Not a good experience! I selected this place in accordance to the reviews but the experience did not meet the expectation. Overpriced food and not very good quality with lack in hospitality ethic. I ordered two Yakimeshi which took way too long to be ready. About 30-40 mins and the Udon...the udon was done before the Yakimeshi. To my surprise the noodles were overcooked and falling apart...the best thing about the noodles is the slurp but there was no way to do it;the only good thing was the broth. When I finally received the Yakimeshi one of the two bowls was chipped on the side...I don't know but in a restaurant ethic something like that would be thrown away and not to be served. The other thing was the rice was not good and the small shrimp were cut on half make look more than what you really get. By the way I ended up returning the bowl that was chipped and lettings know the server that I didn't like it, it was not what I was expecting. The server only said ok. And retrieved the dish with our offering anything else or trying out to fix the situation. At the end the bill rang at $700 pesos with drinks... The drinks were not that good either... Lemonade too sour-just lime juice with water. Maranjada-not that sweet, watered down. O and the dish I returned was charged also even though it was...
Read moreCLASSIC TOURIST SCAM! I have been living in Playa for awhile and decided to try this place after it was recommended to me by a neighbor. When I arrived, they told me there was a 2x1 drink special. I asked the waiter what the special was and he said he needed to check in the back. He then came back and told me the special, so I ordered two and some sushi. Very slow service, finally had to flag down a different waiter because mine was nowhere to be found. Then when I got the bill I see they are in fact not 2x1, when I ask the waiter about it he tells me it’s my fault for misunderstanding him, there was never any special. Mistakes happen, whatever. I go back for lunch one day and again have really slow service, even though the place is basically empty. Then this time when I paid with a large bill they came back with the wrong change (classic tourist scam when they think foreigners, especially Americans, won’t know the currency). Then when I noticed the mistake and asked for the rest of my change they made me wait another 10 minutes and brought out all $1 peso coins, clearly hoping I would just leave them behind as a tip. Don’t waste your time or money here. There are better...
Read moreI wouldn’t come back for sushi. Willing to try their soups before writing off the restaurant entirely. Pros: Easy location to get to. English speaking servers and menus. Lots of variety on the menu (soups, sushi, etc.). Sushi roll portion is good (cost is $150 pesos). Looks nice and is clean. Complimentary broth and rice when you arrive which is super delicious. Attentive and quick servers (seriously, very good service). Overall decent pricing. Cons: Sushi roll- mostly rice doused in mayonnaise pretending to be spicy mayonnaise. Nigiri- scallop was entirely bland. Tasted like water with a hint of fish (not the good kind). I wanted to spit it out as soon as I put it in my mouth but swallowed it quickly instead. Salmon- was just a piece of smoked salmon on top of rice. For $55 pesos a piece, I was expecting something more fresh and/ or flavorful. (Luckily I had all this leftover mayonnaise from the spicy mayo on my roll to add flavor to the nigiri.) Broth- really tasty! But the spoon they serve it in makes it impossible to get to. Don’t even try to get the rice out. Just drink the soup straight...
