Jarritos Y Cazuelas — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

Pico and queso fundido was delicious. Service was lacking, reservations were made for three 6 person tables yet they had only one waitress (who stopped to eat her dinner in the middle of serving us). An extra margarita and tip was added to the bill. Explained to the waitress that we did not have three margaritas and that the tip is not to be put in the bill, asked her to remove both. She came back with another bill with the margarita removed but the tip still in.. I pointed out again that the tip is to not be there and that I would be paying with credit card. She brought the machine and the full amount including tip as what I owed for my meal with the machine then giving me the option of how much to tip on top of that. This scam is why I will not be returning to that restaurant. This is probably almost a dozen restaurants I have run into this now and they continue to make extra money off the customers by charging twice for tip. Tipping is an option and they would have received 20%. Instead they lose the business as I do not return to the restaurants that add the tip into the bill. I don’t like...

April 2021: * avoid this place* The positive: tender taco meats . Negative: the smoke from BBQ was all over my table, I letrally had burning eyes during and after and my clothes and hair smelled like a smoked wood chip for hours after. The duzy is I ordered a drink they didnt have and brought something else convincing me it is what ordered. I said that's not what ordered and I don't like it. They said would like something else, I said yes, give me tamarind. They brought it. But they charged me for both drinks. I told the waiter, he went in and out and said that's the way they want it i don't approve of it ( acting like he is forced to work with this horrible boss). I paid it and left no tip. Saw the good reviews, Come here new year Eve. Only the expensive menu(more expensive then California which I think is the most expensive place) for holiday, No tacos😡we sit inside and the smoke from the kitchen made us eyes watering. First comes the tortilla chips and sauce which is the worst I ever had. We ordered the half octopus, small compared to the picture, with little rice and raw sad vegetables costed $380. They gave me a spoon and knife to eat octopus 🤪. soup menudo, very bad taste, not eatable, costed at least $250.
