My experience with Holbox was spoiled by this restaurant and especially service. I think I’ve never seen such a terrible attitude of manager and treatment of guests as it was here. I was waiting for my food for almost 1,5 h and watching how the people who came 30 minutes later than me got their food, ate and left. And me still waiting and asking where is my food and every time got the answer that it will be in a moment. My dish costed 499 pesos and included 4 different tipes of sea food of 80-100 grams each. In the end I’ve got 3 shrimps, 2 small octopus tentacles, a piece of salmon and my tuna steak they “forgot” so they brought it only after I asked for it. The dish included the garnish, so I chose veggies in butter (200 g). And especially asked it not spicy. As a result I’ve got I believe half of the portion of the seafood that was mentioned and half of vegetables and them being spicy. I was very hungry and angry so we asked the manager to explain the situation. So Areli (the manager) just listen with the frozen face and without even a “sorry” just gave a reason smth like “the grill chef just left and I put another chef”. And she offered a discount OR a drink as a compensation. We had our drinks already so we just asked for a bill. Also I could ask the extra portion of my food as it was included in my order but I was so disappointed so I didn’t want to eat anymore. We got the bill and we saw 10%!!!! discount. And we asked if that’s it? And they said yeah and just don’t give the tips to the servers 🤦🏻♀️ So after that of course I asked the extra portion of my order for take away. And they refused!!! Just told us no it’s not possible. They refused to give me the food that we paid for! We couldn’t believe that’s how they solve the problems. Worse experience and spoiled evening. The only positive thing is an atmosphere with live music and the view. And the sweet hostess (unfortunately don’t know the name) who was much more helpful than a terrible and useless manager. The owner should seriously think who he hired. I didn’t read the reviews before we came here but after this experience I saw that they really have the problems with preparing and bringing the food on time and charging the tips as an obligation. We were late to book - but Maria Fernanda did everything possible to accommodate our wish to ger a table on the little deck over the water... The salmon appetizer was delightful - small, yet packed with flavor - just the perfect bite to tickle the appetite. Then came the phenomenal yucca cream soup with lobster and jamon bits - now I have to learn how to recreate it at home. Our third course surprised me - not exactly a beefsteak eater - with how juicy and tender and most importantly, well seasoned it was. The sweet potato mash, sautéed round little gourds, the brightly colored Parmigiano crisps - all just the perfect additions to the meat and its exquisite sweet wine sauce. And just when we thought we had seen them at their best - on came the dessert... a perfectly poached pear stuffed with cheese and nuts, floating in a pool of crème Anglaise and raspberry coulis. I arrived 5 minutes early to my reservation, for a very specific table, for 715. Only to find that your staff had just seated a newly arrived couple on the table that i had specifically reserved with you PERSONALLY. keeping in mind that the restaurant was COMPLELTY EMPTY, with your staff trying to entrap the walking by tourist to your not so special restaurant.
the reason i write this comment is because you mentioned during the reservation that "reservations is the best way to get your table, and we will give you 50 minutes to show up before we give up your reservation" - clearly not
since your precious reservation notebook was nowhere to be found, and your hostess did nothing to fix the mistake she made. I highly advise you not to act professional when you are a typical...
