The Best Breakfast in Tulum A Must-Visit Gem!

Alegría is by far the best breakfast spot in Tulum. I have visited Tulum a few times and always love exploring the local breakfast scene, but when my husband and I discovered Alegría, we knew we had found something truly special. From that moment on, we came back every single morning, biking 20 minutes just to enjoy it again.

Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented, and incredibly delicious. Alegría takes classic breakfast ideas and elevates them with creative spins and fresh, vibrant ingredients. It is the kind of food that makes you pause, because it’s so flavorful, intentional, and unforgettable!

What truly sets Alegría apart is the atmosphere. Rebecca, the owner, has created a space that feels warm, welcoming, and full of love. You walk in and instantly feel a sense of peace. It invites you to slow down, be present, and enjoy the moment.

If you are searching for the best breakfast in Tulum, a healthy and beautiful café, or a meaningful start to your day, Alegría is the place. It is more than just a restaurant. It is an experience you will want to return to...

My wife and I visited here on our anniversary trip to Tulum. We were wandering around this area and came across Alegría.

This cafetería is by far the best breakfast experience! We are from Los Angeles and are fans of delicious foods and fun brunch places. We ended up eating at Alegría TWICE (we rarely visit a restaurant more than once on vacation so we can try more places).

The food here rivals the balanced flavor profiles of some of our favorite restaurants. There is care and intention with every dish and every presentation, from the food to the exotic smoothies and coffee.

We had a lovely conversation with Rebecca and got to learn a lot about the restaurant and the culture of cooking food with love. Our server Oscar was so nice and attentive. The kitchen staff was also very friendly and welcoming.

Even though we must go back home, we will be craving Alegría until we come back to Tulum (or they...

This cafe is a dream find. We stayed in Tulum (Aldea Zama district) for 4.5 days and ended up spending our morning breakfast here for 4 days. Everything was incredible!! Definitely try the Mexican breakfast classic: Chilaquiles and if you are a coffee fan, all the coffee is delicious. Make sure you try local flavor 'Salvia' (sage). Wasn't sure what it would taste like but it was so fresh and delightful!! Amazing ambiance, incredible coffee, breakfast selections galore (and again everything was amazing: Avocado Toast, Sweet Brioche, Chia Bowl), & wonderful wonderful staff. By the end, this cafe felt like home, the team felt like family and I only wish I could come here everyday. We didn't want to leave Tulum and our little Tulum family here. When you support this cafe too you are supporting local Mexican ownership, which makes everything...

After traveling in Tulum for a few days and experiencing other food spots, Alegria was by far the best! It was the only place we smelt food at walking by and that was only the beginning of why we choose to come here everyday of our trip! The family story behind the chocolate chip banana bread (which is delicious), the kindness and patience from the staff, and the love you can taste through the food from this locally owned restaurant adds up to an experience that I’ll always cherish! Alegria is more than a cafe; the food, atmosphere, and most importantly the sweet owner and her brother all add up to an unforgettable experience! No cap, I’ll come back to Tulum just to enjoy Alegria again!! Pictured is the Sunshine smoothie which is yummy! :)
