Food was average, we ordered 4 dishes and they all came with salad with wilted/black leaves. My dad got sick immediately after finishing his meal. The waitress with the tattoos was wiping the table with her rag around my dish when I was still eating, with the dirty rag touching my plate and the smell in my face. At the end she asked if we wanted to add tips and I chose āno graciasā on the POS, and she cancelled the transaction and said ātips is not includedāand proceeded to re-do. I said I donāt want to leave a tip because of the reasons mentioned above, and she began giving me attitude and saying how in Mexico itās minimum 15% tips. You canāt ask for tips if your service and food quality is bad. She kept speaking and raising her voice with āoh but when I asked you how the food is you said everything is goodā but at that time we havenāt really paid attention to the salad. Anyway she wanted to argue and I just wanted to pay for the food and leave. The audacity to ask for tips based on subpar service and food is baffling. Maybe management should consider giving better pay or training or both. Court yard could use some fan for airflow, but AC is nice inside when itās not too crowded.
Iāve been there other times near closing hours around 6pm and the lady with glasses at the bakery is always willing to sell bread and cookies despite while closing down. Their cookies and bread...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wanted to order an avocado toast. Avocado, feta cheese, egg and asparagus. Price 210 pesos. I asked to change the feta cheese to mozzarella (there was a toast with mozzarella for 215 pesos, with jamon Serrano and other things). The lady first said it would have to be the price of the other toast , so I thought ok 5 pesos. Then she came back and said the kitchen said it would be AN EXTRA 100 PESOS to CHANGE feta for mozzarella. So basically they are saying that the jamon Serrano toast, half of the price is because of the mozzarella? Yeah, right. This makes absolutely no sense. Both are cheese. Iām not adding a special meat or something expensive. And all of that was done with very little care or effort, the attendant did NOT seem happy to be working there. I chose the one with feta anyway. When the food came, there was a bug on it and I had to send it back. The attendant one more time rolling her eyes at me. Terrible service. There was another attendant who tried to make things better and was very nice, but the first one ruined the whole experience for me in the first place. Just to think that just yesterday I had a vegan burguer and asked to ADD cheese, and they did it without extra cost. Itās incredible how some places choose to be so petty instead of making things easier. Definitely NOT coming back. Also, VERY VERY bad acoustics, it was full...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am not sure which is best between the produces sold at the bakery store or the food served at their restaurant. Everything we tried tasted amazing and was of the highest quality! We ended up going there three times during our trip, we loved it so much.
Baguettes, tartines, almond croissant, chocolat bread, sandwiches⦠all have an authentic taste of France with the best quality. Iām french and I couldnāt tell that I was in Tulum, Mexico, and not in Paris. I would recommend anything blindly. If you have a sweet tooth, you gotta try the almond croissant. If you crave some savory goodness, ask for their fried chicken sandwich.
The bakery itself looks amazing. Itās divided in three sections: a front store with the fantastic display of produces and a coffee bar, a middle section with seating and restaurant servings, and a back with their bakery lab and production. If you go there, have a seat at the restaurant and you can get a live view into some talented bakers at work (a windowed facade gives you direct view into the bakery lab).
Next time I visit Tulum, I will for sure stop here a couple times. And you...
