Pizzeria La Bota — Restaurant in San Miguel de Cozumel

Good pizza, very impolite owner with personal issues.;

Me and my girlfriend went here for dinner. Prior to eating I went to the bathroom. (relevant later)

We finish the pizza which was good, and ask for the check. The man in the kitchen (owner) asks my girlfriend if she speaks English, and starts to ask if she knows what happened in the toilet. My girlfriend, totally flabbergasted, doesn’t understand. He repeats ‘The toilet is broken. What happened?’ I stand up and join the conversation, and asks what’s up. He asks me, looking straight into my eyes aggresively, if I broke the flush button of their toilet. I say, again, that I am pretty sure I didn’t. He doesn’t believe me and I get a very cold reaction. My family and I wanted to have some pizza during our stay and I turned to Google to find a spot. Most of the ones I found looked junky, expensive, or both. Then I found La Bota and packed up the fam and we went in there tonight. Oh man, it's hella good! The toppings, the base, the crispiness. And yet the crust was so chewy. It was an extra treat to pour some olive oil on the plate and sop it up with the crust. Delicious! This is authentic pizza through and through. Absolutely fantastic. And to top it all off, there was an excellent chocolate cake for dessert as well! I think they only do it once a week, so that was lucky. Wonderful pizza! Crust & toppings are delicious and so, so fresh. Ask about pizzas not listed on the menu. One pizza was the right size for 2 of us: not too much, nor too little. We loved Pizzeria La Bota so much we returned during the short time we had left in Cozumel. Now back home, we still crave it.

Take-out or relax at one of the indoor tables. Intimate & unpretentious. Very clean. The owners, a young couple, are extremely friendly, hard-working, & eager to please. They take great pride in their work (and their beautiful tiled pizza oven). We came as guests and...
