Avoid Tacos Papi. While the food is tasty and the place is very cute, that’s where the positives end. The service was okay until the bill arrived. Here’s what happened: In Mexico, the word for tip is PROPINA, and it’s always 15%, included in the final bill. There are no extra charges or fees in addition. However, the server asked for an additional tip, falsely claiming it was some “extra fee” instead of the already included tip. We initially wanted to pay in cash with USD, but they calculated the bill at bad exchange rate, adding nearly $20. We decided to pay by credit card in pesos instead. After swiping the card, the server claimed the transaction didn’t go through and insisted on charging the card again. However, we checked our online banking and saw the payment had already been processed. When we pointed this out, the server lied, saying nothing showed on their system, even though we saw our transaction on their screen! They tried to make us pay the full amount again, but we refused. We stopped at Tacos Papi while in Tulum and it instantly became one of our favorite spots. The tacos are absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. You can tell they use quality ingredients and take pride in their food.
What made the experience even better was Claudia. She’s so friendly, welcoming, and attentive. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and gave us great recommendations from the menu. Her energy makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit.

Also every other like 10 minutes they have a smoke system that makes the restaurant smell like tacos or meat! So delicious! I def like the sirloin tacos they were the bomb and my girlfriend had the red pastor quesadillas and they were also really good. Kind of in the heart of all the restaurants and shops with people passing by. We came on a slower night Thursday and it was nice. 2 Tacos Plates (each with 3 tacos ) and 1 quesadilla plate that comes with guacamole and a margaritas and a coke came out to about $70 USD.
