We stumbled upon this place when walking in Valladolid. It is located in Avery picturesque street that embodies the colourfulness of Mexico with iconic architecture and all local shops of design, cafes and restaurants.
We ordered tacos (and they were more than enough) and also a guacamole which was an interesting take on the original classic guaca.
The service was absolutely fantastic, the staff super friendly, we got to chat with some of the locals sitting there about the local scene and what to do in Yucatan. The owners were also there and gave some recommendations of places to go eat around Yucatan and recommended some activities.
They were all absolutely lovely. The atmosphere is amazing, very bohemian and if you are there in the evening they do live music (salsa) and the place becomes super lovely and fun.
If you're going to Chichen Itza, then this place is perfect for you to visit for lunch or dinner on the way there or back (depends where you're staying).
Very affordable prices (lunch for two - 12 tacos, 4 cocktails, guacamole and water under 1000 pesos!!!)
We are definitely going to go there again for live music evening and good local hearty food!...
Read moreI didn’t realize when I first stepped in that this place would be as good as it is! Each time I’ve been there, it’s been early daytime hours and maximum there have been 4 other people. This place deserves to be full every hour of the day! The food has consistently wowed me! Oddly, I’ve ordered the Caesar Salad at least thrice now and I normally intend to try something new each time I visit a restaurant. The drinks are exceptionally well-made. The Café Maya is prepared in front of the table with artistic precision and the whipped cream is the yummiest whipped cream I have ever ever tasted! The service has been impeccable on every visit. And finally, it is super cool inside and in the back garden. Each time I’ve witnessed people walk past without coming in I think, “Sad day! This place is awesome!” I am so thrilled to have found this awesome place during our one month in...
Read moreWent here because of the reviews. The fact that this is the only place that has a hostess calling to people on the street and the loud music coming out was off-putting, but we ended up risking it. The inside is way nicer, it is a little labyrinth of quaint rooms and gardens.
We ordered beer and pizza, which were all right. Service left some to be desired though. We did not receive cutlery, and had to ask for napkins. When we asked for the bill, nothing happened for 10 minutes. We then left the money on the table and walked out. A few minutes later we were apprehended by a security guard on a motorcycle who did have our bill. We explained what happened and that next time they can just deliver our bill to the table...
A weird...
