We went here to have a good vantage point of the gate and the Medina. We found a table which was quite good enough to see what we wanted to see. The not so good part was the server took sometime to get our order even if I said that we were ready to order. Good thing we were not in a hurry so we spent our time watching people entering and exiting the gate. A good compensation to pass the time waiting to be served. Once we ordered food, it came quite faster than being asked what to order. The lamb with prunes and almonds was quite good, not to sweet and not to salty. Just right for my taste I suppose. The salad which was part of the menu we took was also fine. The dessert which was fruits of the season : juicy orange cuts and sweet kiwi fruits …. Passed my standards.
Price was affordable, I think one of the cheapest menus we got in Fes.
Before we left, the waiter asked for a tip while I was on the stairs. I said, i don’t have my wallet. I wanted to say, « you don’t deserve it » coz of the slow service.
In any case, we spent around almost 2 and a half hours ( we thought of just spending some time for a quick bite) from arriving, waiting to be served, and leaving our table.
If the service or that staff was faster, I would have given this...
Read moreFrom desesperation to adoration. There is always smth in places like these. We have decided to try another restaurant, and chose Bouanania for its terrace obviously. And a terrace it has! Airy, amazing and.. completely empty, some local boys having their teas, thats it. We realised the reataurant does not have its kitchen it sources the meals from nearby. Too bad we were too tired to look arround. And the views were magnificent. The food though surprised us positively. It was really good, home made stuff. We had couscous - sooo good. With cinamon and raisins. We had beef grill - also unexpectedly good. Probably the chips were unnecessary but the tomato and onion salad - excellent! All good after all. Food outsourcing has its positives. But yet only 4 as you would expect a restaurant to have a kitchen... definitely the best...
Read moreThis place is amazing. Casual but very very special. We took a table in the corner of the terrace on a warm June night. I had lamb tajine with plums and almonds and it was amazing. The lamb was like butter tender and the flavor was out of this world. The service was fantastic and the prices dirt cheap. The decor of the terrace is really nice with hanging lights and views of the souk below from different sides of the terrace. We lucked out because a group of friends (who were all musicians) were meeting there to have coffee and jam. Guitars, a tamborine on the floor tapped by one of the guitar players feet, a cajón and several voices. It was amazing! 10 stars...
