Money was STOLEN during my stay at Algila Fes. The concierge and the hotel staffs seemed so nice and helpful at first, but don't be deceived by the way they present themselves. I had $9000 + dollars in my backpack for my prolonged travels. I stored my money in the inner compartment of my backpack. I had all my money when I arrived at Algila Fes because I had checked during my arrival to the hotel. There were only two times when my backpack was out of my sight. First was when I left my backpack in my hotel room when I went out dinner for an hour, and I had locked the door of my hotel room. I didn't store my money in the safe because the safes in Cuba actually ran out of battery during my previous travel. I assumed that it would be safe to leave my backpack in the room since there were video surveillance in the hotel and knowing that Algila Fes is a 5 star hotel. The second time my backpack left my sight was the next morning when the hotel concierge staff, Yunis, helped carry my luggage and my backpack contained cash to the first floor since I lived on the third floor of the hotel to catch an early flight. My backpack was out of my sight for several minutes. FYI, Yunis was also the only staff working when I left for dinner during the previous night. On my way to the airport, I realized that all my cash were stolen during my stay at the hotel. I contacted local police but it took the police an entire day to write down a report based on my description. Basically, the local police authorities wanted to help but couldn't help very much due to language barriers, even though they went to hotel, they did not check the video surveillance footages. I also tried talking to the hotel manager, but she was very defensive when I brought up the issue of my money being stolen during my stay. She kept telling me how it wasn't the hotel's responsibility since I had no proof. She kept saying that how I should have read some sign that was posted on the back of the doors of the hotel regarding valuables. I am posting here to warn everyone who wants to stay at this hotel. I made a huge mistake of staying there, and please be careful of your belongings, especially in a place like Fes where it is very difficult to tell the good people from the bad. Long story short, if you want a good time in Fes without extra worries then please don't stay...

We are a very large travel agency based in USA and Canada and based on our dealing wit other others throughout the country this one I would give it ZERO.
We booked an itinerary of 14 days for an old couple traveling to Morocco and on their way there, they got a bad news Call that the wife was tested positive for breast cancer which is a devastating problem for the family and obviously for the couple.
Since they are already in Morocco we contacted most of the hotel as they had to change slightly the itinerary to get back home sooner and most of the hotels especially the Sofitel were very understanding and accommodation to the change and the unfortunate situations.
We called Expedia where we made initially the reservation and after long calls and speaking to their Manager of Algila ( HOUDA), we got no where except TOO BAD, non refundable and we do not have other dates.
I then emailed them 2 times trying to explain how this is a painful situation for the family and that the worst thing we can at this point is to try to squeeze them more financially and guess what , THEY DID NOT EVEN BOTHER TO EMAIL US BACK.
My assessment on this experience is that if you choose to book with Algila Fes, You will be on your own, you will not get your phone answered, you will not get sympathy even if you just discovered a family member had cancer, you will not get a full or even a partial refund on a 3 night accommodation that could be sold easily, You will REGRET booking this hotel.
I also now say to this Hotel , Congratulation is been the face of evil in a beautiful city of Fes and congratulations to Algila's Manager ( HOUDA) in managing what suppose to be a hospitality establishment with ZERO customer service care and attention to clients concerns.
We will be sharing our experience around the travel industry and reviews websites to hopefully expose this experience and helping follow travelers avoid this type of...
Read moreIf you're looking for an authentic Moroccan experience, Algila Fes is the place for you! Tucked away in the narrow streets of the Fes medina, from the moment you step into the entryway, you feel that you're in a very special place. We were seated in homey and comfortable reception area near the main courtyard where we were served delicious mint tea and pastries we checked in before being shown our room. Because we were visiting during the low season (which I recommend!), they upgraded us to a beautiful suite with comfy beds, luxurious towels and, my personal favorite, cozy robes. Dinner was amazing; the food was a delicious introduction to Morrocan fare and the service was impeccable. After a good nights sleep (we had only arrived in Morocco a little more than 24 hours prior to our arrival at the hotel), we walked into the dining room to find a breakfast spread that we couldn't believe! From the fresh fruit to the homemade yogurt, I've never found better breakfast (or service) in any of our travels. When the gentleman at the table next to us struck up a conversation and we found out he was the proprietor, it became clear that every aspect of this hotel, from the beautiful decor, incredible and friendly service, fine dining and the overall warm and cozy feeling of the hotel was his vision of what a small, intimate...
