We were served with the room on the top floor which is almost 40 steps up and extremely hot. Receptionist literally warned us that because weather is too hot that she herself couldn't sleep at night. So, we couldn't sleep at all for the first night even though air cons turned on for the whole day. Next morning receptionist arranged another room with 2 air cons but same floor still too hot to sleep. We stayed in another riad in Marrakech but the experience was amazing - its Riad Amor's problem, not for riads in general.
We told the receptionist that we have booked a tour to Chefchaouen and coming back after mid-night. She said no problem and just ring the bell. Eventually we keep knocking the door at 12:30 for an hour even the neighbor next door came out to help. Later we called our driver guide, he then connected with his own boss and the riad owner. After around an hour the chef came out half nakedly opened the door for us and said it's not his responsibility, all other hotel servers left.
Overall, it's a riad in the end of an alley, just next to the home of locals. Its not a 4 stars, not 3, its just a quite beautiful house but not a home... like a hostel. I prefer NOT to stay there even if the very bad incident...
Read moreThe most expensive but worst dinner in Morocco. We didn’t sleep here but we celebrated new year’s eve at riad amor with a special dinner party. The shows of the artists were fine but the dinner (that costed 700dh/70€) was very bad. The ‘foie gras’ was a tasteless paté, the chicken and lamb were very blend, no flavour, the wine was too cold and the dessert was a single slice of cake while there were different kinds of pastries and tarts with Moroccan tea on the menu. We were asked if we wanted a glass of champagne right before midnight, which seemed to be not included with the dinner: 15€ per glass, 10 after some negotiations. The midnight moment was ruined because the hostess stopped the musicians right before and everyone stopped dancing. Ofcourse we didn’t expect everything to be perfect; our pickup was half an hour late and the waiter didn’t know how to open a bottle of wine for instance, but that’s ok, no problem. But the rest of the dinner was so bad that we felt quite squeaked. Don’t go here for dinner especially not on NYE. Might be a good riad to spent the...
