A Truly Exquisite Dining Experience at Sesamo – Royal Mansour Marrakech
Dining at Sesamo was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, the ambiance wrapped me in quiet luxury — opulent interiors, candlelit tables, and a refined calm that instantly set the tone for what would become a world-class culinary journey.
I selected the Mamma Rita tasting menu, and every single course was a masterpiece — both in presentation and flavor. • The beef carpaccio was delicate and perfectly balanced with wild arugula and balsamic reduction. • The eggplant parmigiana was soul-warming, rich, and comforting — exactly what you’d expect from a recipe passed down through generations. • The spaghetti aglio e olio was deceptively simple yet bold, served with a shot of Virgin Bloody Mary that added a fun modern twist. • The raviolone alla bolognese was a standout: a single large, silky raviolo filled with slow-cooked meat — indulgent and full of depth. • The pea risotto was vibrant, creamy, and fresh, topped with shavings of aged Parmesan. • The chicken Milanese arrived crisp and golden, served with a light mustard foam and fresh greens — the perfect harmony of texture and tang. • A sparkling lemon sorbet cleansed the palate beautifully before dessert. • Finally, the Atlas walnut tiramisu was elegant, airy, and the perfect closing note — a nod to both Italian tradition and Moroccan terroir.
The service was graceful and attentive without being overbearing. Every glass was refilled without asking, and the pacing of the meal was flawless.
Paired with a bottle of 2019 Castello di Ama San Lorenzo, the evening turned into something truly memorable — a celebration of Italy in the heart of Marrakech. Even the olive oil (Centonze D.O.P.) stood out, as did the petits fours and welcome aperitifs.
This was more than a dinner — it was a sensory experience where Italian heart meets Moroccan soul in the most elevated way. Bravo to the entire team at Sesamo. This is a must-visit for any culinary lover...
Read moreIf you are italian or ever been to italy and did some research on food before your trip, find some good and traditional places, this restaurant is garbage. I am sorry but if this is the food of a literal palace with one of the best experiences (only the service and the atmosphere) you can probably have in Marrakech, you get some rights to set your expectations high. They tried to infuse completely different ideas. The restaurant itself tried to be more different than the traditional Italian restaurants but failed completely with an exceptionally inadequate food selection that does not even respect the real italian heritage. I would avoid this place with no any second thoughts, probably the last place to eat italian cuisine in Marrakech. I was going to take a picture of the “Napoletana margherita” for how funny it was. The base was bad, the crust was just pure bread, sauce and the mozzarella was okay not gonna lie. The gnocchi with cuttle fish was a complete joke which tasted only like a sea themed clay balls. They tasted like a fish from spongebob. The carpaccio was okay but i don’t know how did they manage to put prawn crackers, curry sauce!, purple cabbage or radish and the beef tasted super super raw and beefy (i don’t know how to explain it) not like a real carpaccio. The dessert was a complete disaster as well, mille-feuille with fragola (lmao). The mille-feuille was just a thin plate with just butter which reminded me a shortbread cookie, but it tasted good tho. Overall avoid, just go to the Le grande table Marocain, which is another restaurant in the Royal Mansour. Only 4 tables were occupied outside while most of them being empty on a Saturday night (sad...
Read moreSezamo was our favorite Marrakech restaurant. The dinner we had a year ago was expensive but memorable. The service, ambience and the food (the full dinner menu) were excellent. Last night for a special evening we went again. What happened?!! The service was fine but nothing special. We again ordered the full menu. 1300 MAD. Wine 1900 MAD after an aperitif of Bollinger champagne. There was nothing special or creative about the three appetizers which were just plopped on the table with no explanation. The steak tartare as rough and the Truffles were old so they had lost all the aroma. Then the pasta dishes- black squid ink pasta and deep fried? Cannelloni. The squid ink was so intense in its flavor - no subtleties. Unfortunately before the main dish (chicken cutlet - 1300 MAD?) arrived my wife began to feel ill and we had to to leave. My wife was I’ll all night. I felt ill as well but did not get as sick. It definitely was a reaction to something we ate - I can’t say if it was food poisoning. I don’t know if they heard from any other customers.
Even without the awful consequences we would not return because the food the preparation, the atmosphere was so different from the last time. I mean seriously- fried chicken cutlet for main course and tira misu for desert. You can get that at the airport. I’m so sorry to see this happen. As it is there are not great places to dine...
