Comptoir Darna… What could have been a great evening together, turned out to be a very disappointing experience.

First we get two emails that our table reservation at 8pm, is not feasible due to Ramadan, and that is why we should come at 8:30. With pleasure! However 8:20 we get called and asked where we are, as we did not turn up for our table at time. Confusing start.

Then we arrive, warmly welcomed, and our expectations rise accordingly, with good reason. Great interior design and atmosphere. Me and my girlfriend are excited.

We get seated on the second floor, against the wall where there is just one too many tables. I write one too many, because 1) my girlfriend barely makes it between the tables (no she is not a big woman), and 2) your waitress tipped over 4 glasses on the neighbouring table, as she had to move it because other guests did not get through either.

Additionally to this, we sit there in a cold breeze of wind. Several of our fellow guests were putting on more clothes as well. Brrrrrr. We asked to turn it off twice, both times with success, but yes as you read: TWICE, it means it got turned back on again and again. Hope we don’t get sick.

Bad start, but our mood is relatively good so far, because everybody makes mistakes. And you gave us some really good starter. Delicious gambas!

Then to the disaster. I order the salmon. Mistake. Mistake. Mistake. Should had gone for Tajine, but I had Tajine for the last three days.

It is not even half cooked. It is pink and fresh, as straight from the ocean. Am I in sushi restaurant? Unfortunately not. I tell the waitress, and she said they will cook it better. Great!

But I get it back, and it is as raw as it was before.

And you know what, maybe I am holding a too high standard for a seemingly high standard restaurant like Comptoir Darna, but the worst part was: that there was never any apology, explanation or anything close to a emotional or physical compensation for our experience. I was just left as a big questionmark, with a seemingly annoyed waitress that apparently thought I was being picky.

I did not pay for the salmon in terms of money (of course I should not!) but I paid in terms of stomach ache the whole evening, and a weird feeling of wanting to throw up.

A friend recommended me this restaurant, especially because of your 15 minute long show, that indeed was quite cool, but it will never make up for leaving me with stomach ache and ruining a potentially nice evening with you and with my girlfriend.

Take this review as it is. There are no excuses for my experience, but I hope you can read it and realise that your product needs improvement, and that disappointed guest are important to take care of. I have added a photo of my salmon.

Honestly, I think a correct reaction here would be to write off my whole bill. That’s the least you could have done, as a symbol of respect. But no, nothing. Not even sorry.

Hope others had a better experience! Maybe I was just extremely unlucky.

UPDATE: I...

I recently visited Comptoir Darna restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. I had called in advance at 5:41 pm to make a reservation for a party of 2 people scheduled for 8:30 pm. However, the service and treatment I received upon arrival were extremely disappointing.

Upon reaching the restaurant, we expressed our preference to be seated inside due to the lively atmosphere created by the music group performing indoors. To our surprise, despite being assured during the reservation call that the music group would also be present outside, this turned out to be a false statement. It was disheartening to realize that we had been misled, leading to confusion and disappointment from the beginning of our visit.

In an attempt to clarify the situation, we approached a staff member named Bader. He apologized for the misunderstanding and informed us that the dancers would only be performing outside. Moreover, he made a promise to provide us with a table upstairs when the DJ started at 11:30 pm. Regrettably, when the promised time arrived, no one attended to us, and our expectations were not met. We eventually approached Bader once again, who simply asked us to wait until a table was cleaned. After waiting patiently for 30 minutes, it became evident that his promises were empty and unfulfilled.

What struck me even more was the apparent discrepancy in the treatment of different nationalities by the staff. It was evident that certain nationalities were given preferential treatment, while others were ignored or disregarded. This discriminatory behavior not only reflects poorly on the professionalism of the establishment but also leaves one feeling disrespected and ashamed.

I had expected Comptoir Darna restaurant to uphold high standards and strive for customer satisfaction. However, my experience clearly fell short of these expectations. The miscommunication, unfulfilled promises, and discriminatory treatment I encountered were deeply disappointing.

Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Comptoir Darna restaurant at this time. I believe it is important for potential customers to be aware of the issues I encountered in order to make informed decisions about their...

From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. We were here Thursday at around 5pm to check out the restaurant and they open at 7pm. The staff at the entrance was very kind let us in to make a reservation even when they were very busy for preparation, the Manager greeted us and was very considerate with my attire as I wasn’t aware with the dress code. We then came back for our reservation, the staff really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth. Every detail, from the attentiveness of the servers to the timing of each course, was handled with care.

Special mention to the man, the myth, the legend Mr Marwan 👏 for welcoming us with warmth and care from beginning to the end of our stay. Always making sure that every single table in the restaurant is enjoying themselves. This is how a General Manager should be 🙌 and also our server Soufiane who looked after us and made sure that we are having the best experience with food and service! 👍🏻

Now, the food… Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. We started with the Lamb Tacos and Blue Lobster finishing with The Famous Mechoui 🤌🏻 It’s clear the chefs are passionate about what they do, and it shines through in every bite. Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or just someone who appreciates a great meal, this place will blow you away.

The atmosphere was just as memorable. Cozy yet elegant, with a vibe that makes you want to linger a little longer. It wasn’t just a dinner it was an experience.

Such a memorable experience celebrating our 10th year’s wedding anniversary with our 4year old daughter. Shukran Team Comptoir Darna 🙏🏼

Highly recommend to anyone looking for more than just a meal. This is the kind of place you rave about to friends/family and can’t wait to...
