Today, I visited Himalayan Dorjee Restaurant with two friends based on their recommendation. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations.
Upon arrival, we were seated promptly, but it took 10 minutes for a waiter to approach us. We ordered 2 noodle dishes and 1 mixed thukpa. After waiting 20 minutes, only one noodle dish and the thukpa arrived. My order was missing. When I inquired, the staff seemed indifferent and offered no apology.
Thirty minutes later after my friends had already finished their meals my dish finally arrived. To make matters worse, there were no forks provided at the table. Despite repeated attempts to flag down a waiter for utensils, no one assisted us. Eventually, my friend had to walk into the kitchen area herself to bring me a fork a task that should never fall on a customer. By then, the food was lukewarm and lacked flavor. The noodles were bland, and the thukpa tasted under-seasoned.
Beyond the food and service issues, the ambiance added to the discomfort Uncomfortable seating The chairs were hard and stiff, causing discomfort throughout the meal. Noise and crowding Loud traffic noise disrupted conversation, and tables were placed too closely together, leaving no privacy.
Overall, the combination of slow service, unappetizing food, poor ambiance, and lack of basic amenities like utensils made this visit highly unsatisfactory. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not...

The kitchen is terribly dirty, an employee in front of me wiped something on the floor and then carried the food to the guest with the same hands. Probably after I saw all this I should have canceled the order and gone to another establishment, but I decided to trust fate and the recommendation of my friend.
Now I have been vomiting for 24 hours and experiencing symptoms of an intestinal infection.
I think it’s not worth attaching a photo of what vomit looks like, because you already understood everything 😅
In short, if you want to play Russian roulette with infection and bacteria, then this is...
Read moreLove the relatively fast serving of your hot food (which one will realize is rare and prized in Nepal!) and relatively fuss-free service by the staff. My go-to place when I’m hungry as the food has also been consistent. Prices raised over the years yet it’s reasonably fair as costs of living been on the increase too.
Home-styled cozy restaurant. Owners and staff do remember their customers which adds to the overall pleasant dining experience.
Favorite is the fried thenthuk and chilli oil. They did expand their menu yet wonder would they also increase...
