Our experience at The Smoking Yak in Pokhara was nothing short of amazing, and it all started with one word: steak. I can confidently say it was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. It was thick, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was a savory delight that left us craving for more. If you visit, the steak is an absolute must-try.
But the culinary wonders didn't stop at the steak. The yak mac and cheese was an unexpected revelation. Creamy, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying, it's a dish that I would highly recommend to anyone dining here. It's a unique twist on a classic that you won't want to miss.
The exceptional service further elevated our dining experience. Despite being one of the only patrons in the restaurant, the attentive staff made sure that everything we needed was taken care of promptly. Their friendly and efficient service added to the overall positive atmosphere.
What truly surprised us and showcased the outstanding customer care was an incident involving the restaurant across the street. We humorously mentioned how their noise level was making it difficult for us to hear each other. To our disbelief, the manager of The Smoking Yak took action and called over to the neighboring restaurant, politely requesting them to lower the volume. This unexpected act of consideration demonstrated a level of commitment to customer satisfaction that exceeded our expectations.
In summary, The Smoking Yak is a true gem in Pokhara, offering not only outstanding steaks but also a culinary adventure with dishes like the yak mac and cheese. The exceptional service and unexpected gestures of kindness from the staff make it a must-visit. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience, look no further than The...
Read moreI ordered the Shitake Mushroom Steak Medium Rare and was shocked when I received a few medallions of Shitake mushrooms and no steak. I misunderstood the menu, but the menu is also misleading. This is a restaurant knows for serving steak and steak shouldnât be in the title of the dish if there is no steak. The server should have understood as well when I ordered it medium rare that I thought I was getting a steak and let me know it wasnât a steak dish. Then I asked if the entree came with potatoes of any kind and she said no only vegetables, so we ordered french fries but the meal did come with fries. They would not take back the mushroom steak entree so I had to pay for it and another steak dinner that I ordered. Also had to pay for the extra fries that we didnât need. It ended up being a very expensive dinner due to the server not being very good at her job. We also tried to order a salad and it was so difficult we gave up and didnât get one. Additionally, tax is charged on the service charge which is completely inappropriate. Poor taste and cheating just to get a few extra rupees out of...
Read moreI would like to give 4 stars. But 3 is appropriate right now. Firstly I have to say service is friendly and attentive. The place is charming. The steak I ordered was a generous piece of meat but it was very tough. My guess was that it was cooked from cold or frozen. The steak was tasty but my only criticism was the toughness. The veggies and potatoes were cooked really well so generally except for the tough steak I enjoyed it here. I'm European so used to a tender cut and can accept something being a bit chewy but this steak was even difficult to cut with a steak knife. Would I go back? Yes I would because this could have been an 'off day' and generally I think it's a lovely place with really friendly staff.
Just a quick update and bump up to 4 stars. Went again today steak was very different, tasty and juicy.... Everything else just as good so 4...
