Anmol restaurant — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Just ended a great day with a wonderful meal at this restaurant. The staff was very friendly (even though it was the end of their day and we were two of their last customers) and humorous. I've always enjoyed Indian food and found my dinner at the Anmol Restaurant one of the best I've ever had. The chicken tikka masala and lamb biryani was absolutely delicious. It was obvious that the ingredients used were very fresh -- to the point where I had to ask the staff if they made their own purées, which they said they did ("we never buy purees, we make our own with vegetables bought the same day"). I seldom write reviews but I was moved to write this one not just by the excellent food but also by the impression the staff left on me -- here were people who very much believed in what they were doing; who enjoyed doing it, and enjoyed sharing what they do with the world...

food - the food was great. we ordered chicken biryani, butter chicken, and garlic naan. the food was hot and tasty, the butter chicken was a little bit sweet which I was not expecting but was still quite good. full point

drink - we got a kingfisher and a mango lassi. lassi was great, very creamy. full point

service - the man who was working the tables was very nice and patient and understanding. wonderful. full point

atmosphere - it was alright, i don’t necessarily agree with some of the choices in terms of interior design and there was a fly buzzing around but still a lot of traditional style art. 0.7

price - it was expensive but it was good food in amsterdam so it was worth it. would pay again. there were leftovers. 0.7

overall - 4.4. overriding to 5 points because I want the restaurant...

We were staying on the neighborhood on a visit in 2017 and came here for a late lunch. Its a very small quaint place. They keep a tourist menu sandwhich board sign out front, which is misleading because its not really a touristy place. There was only one person running the place when we were there, both cooking and taking orders. He was very nice and spoke english very well, fortunately. The food was delicious. Try the curry soup for a cold and/or rainy miserable day. My wide still raves about the chicken soup. Meals are served in individual portions but they are more than sufficient. Only four stars because the interior probably could be spruced up a bit. But...
