Fries were not nice. Burrata too. Probably was old as inside it was not soft but almost like mozzarella. Lacked salt. Some tomatoes were super hard and other ones were soft. Caesar salad was promising as the sauce was nice and the salad is fresh but poached egg was very raw inside. The egg white was raw and once I cut the poached egg the egg white leaked out all over my salad making croutons and crispy chicken soaking wet. We called for someone to take an order three times. Then the waitress helped us. She was nice and even tried to help us to get a bigger table. She was helpful and friendly. Unfortunately we did not ask for her name. But we found that the amount of staff working on Friday night is not enough as they physically couldn’t take all orders and serve everyone quickly. We were a huge group but we all had problems with ordering. At some point we just went to the bar to get our drinks and there was only one bartender in full bar. The vegetarian platter came missing items listed on the menu which was also frustrating. Half of the menu was...
Read moreBar Baarsch is a wonderful neighborhood cafe with food, drinks, and that quintessential Dutch cosiness known as "gezelligheid". My friend and I stopped by for brunch on the weekend and sat outside, just around the corner of the bustling shopping street Jan Evertsenstraat. A great place for people watching! The staff were super friendly and accommodating, albeit a bit slow at first to take our orders and bring us drinks. But service picked up as the place got busier. My friend had the smoked salmon sandwich and I opted for the eggs. The salmon was lovely and fresh, and my eggs were poached to perfection and finished with yogurt and spices – absolutely delicious! Coffees were great and my friend also ordered some refreshing homemade passionfruit lemonade. During the day this is a superb place to chill out, have a meal or just meet for coffee. At night, it turns into a bar, and besides beer and cocktails apparently there are also all kinds of activities (like pub quizzes, performances and speed dating). Highly recommended and we will definitely be...
Read moreNice neigbourhood spot. Terrace is OK, but our dinner was below par. Had a ‘surf and turf’ with loads of weird half crispy curls on it but they had no taste at all. Couldn’t get them off so it mixed with the vegetable mash which was off because of it too. Fish was too salt with a bit of Serrano - taste combination was not balanced. Felt like the food was a mix mash and not made with love and attention (my boyfriend had the bbq fish - bit dry) but maybe we came on the wrong day. It would be OK if the prices were lower (paid 52 eu for a dinner we didn’t enjoy), but now the value for money was off for us. Too bad. Service was not the most friendly but wouldn’t complain about that because all the cafes have some issues with getting the right people atm. The smoothie was nice though and I think it can be a nice...
