Bar Blij — Restaurant in Amsterdam

We popped into Bar Blij for a quick drink to celebrate my brother’s 50th — and ended up staying for four hours! The vibe was so relaxed and welcoming, we just didn’t want to leave.

George, the owner, is an absolute legend — super friendly and even let us put on some of our own music, which made the whole evening feel really personal and fun. Great drinks, great atmosphere, and just a genuinely happy place to hang out.

Also thanks to Gareth (Bar) for being attentive and ensuring we were looked after.

Came in and left because it was crowded and the bar had a lot going on. Went to the bar down the street for a few hours and came back. Nothing changed except for us to give it it a chance. That was a horrible mistake because the drinks were outstanding and the bartenders were interested in you having a good time

The frozen drinks are the actual best in the city. That's not hyperbole or exaggeration. It's legit. Just try them. You'll see. Arthur is a delight. He's a good dude willing and wanting to talk to you and see how he can make your time even better

Lovely bar just one street behind the busy Jan Evertsenstraat. I imagine it's easy to miss but that would be a shame because it's a great spot for chilling with some delicious cocktails.

Pros: Cool decor, great cocktails (many frozen ones which were great on a 25 degree sunny day), super friendly bartender/ owner, nice terras.

Cons: It was a bit quiet when we went, only 1 other group, but I imagine that was because we went at a weird time (around 4pm).
