Japanese-inspired cocktail bar in Amsterdam 🇯🇵

Bar Hana Ichiba, formerly Café Bloemenmarkt, is a Japanese-inspired 🇯🇵 boutique cocktail bar 🍸 located in the heart of Amsterdam 🇳🇱. Founded by 2013 Bartender of the Year Leroy Soumokil, it offers a unique experience with a carefully curated drink selection, including Umeshu, Sake, Biru, and signature cocktails, paired with authentic Izakaya-style 🍢 bar food.

Guests can enhance their visit by selecting an LP 🎶 from the bar’s collection to be played while enjoying a complimentary Otoshi (small snack) 🍘. The bar has a cozy and hip atmosphere, expertly crafted cocktails, and a knowledgeable, passionate staff. They also offer a 10-course Omakase 🍣 sushi experience for an unforgettable culinary journey.

Café Bloemmarkt: Amsterdam's Best-Kept Secret. A haven for locals!

Nestled in the heart of Amsterdam's tourist hub “bloemenmarkt” lies a hidden oasis known only to locals: Café Bloemmarkt. This charming café offers a tranquil escape from the city's hustle and bustle.

What sets Café Bloemmarkt apart is its simplicity. With a concise yet satisfying menu, highlighted by freshly baked bread and delightful accompaniments, every visit is a culinary delight. But more than just a café, Café Bloemmarkt is a sanctuary for the soul, where time seems to stand still amid the city's frenzy.

In a city filled with tourists, Café Bloemmarkt remains a cherished secret among locals. So if you're looking to experience the true essence of Amsterdam, be sure to pay a visit to...

Came in the evening for cocktails from the same team that brought us Bar Mokum. Compact cocktail menu + snacks. The cocktails themselves are crowd pleasers that nod to Japanese flavors and styles (there are 2 highballs for eg) but still carry their weight using premium liquors. The space is easy to miss off the bloemenmarkt but it's quite serene and cozy inside; good for small groups or dates though one can hope the TikTokerati don't demolish the vibe. The back bar seems stocked enough that you can probably go off-menu for classics but the menu itself is already quite solid and probably will change over time. 6 stars for the unrushed but attentive...

I've only tried the omakase (10 nigiri per person for €40). Although the nigiri were good and tasty, I don't think I will come again. The quality of the seafood was great, but execution was lacking. Especially from sushi chefs I would expect the sushi roce to be evenly seasoned, but that was not the case. My partner got sour parts while mine were oftentimes actually quite bland. Overall, I like this as a one-time experience, but no second visit from me. Pros: fresh and tasty nigiri, friendly staff Cons: the nigiri all tasted the same after a while, even if the seafood differed and/or got flambé. The sushi rice was unevenly seasoned.

I recently enjoyed the omakase sushi course here for €35 and overall had a lovely experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasant — calm, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxed meal. The sushi itself was fresh and nicely prepared. While it may not have been the absolute best sushi I’ve ever had, it was definitely enjoyable and well worth the price. Considering the quality, the variety, and the overall experience, I felt it was great value for money. If you’re looking for an accessible and enjoyable omakase experience without breaking the bank, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try!
