Great location and views, shocking disregard for food allergies!
My friend was excited to bring me here for lunch today but felt embarrassed that he had.
The location and views are spectacular, and it has a nice atmosphere but the menu is very limited for coeliacs. Almost every dish comes with bread but they don’t have a gluten free option.
I ordered a nice salad and asked the waitress to let the chef know. My salad was brought to me with two crumbly slices of bread on top of it!!
I brought this up with another waitress whose response was “well we have bread in the kitchen anyway!” No apology. What a ridiculous response.
I told her that I accepted the risk of potential cross contamination (or I’d never eat out) but I did not accept actual risk actually sitting on top of my food when I had asked the waitress to warn the chef!
My friend did enjoy his croquettes but said they were just okay, nothing special.
I cannot recommend this place to anyone with food allergies or...
Read moreThe view from this restaurant might be Amsterdam’s best kept secret (much nicer than my photos make it look, especially when It’s a sunny day). The food was really nice- I had the vegan option of scrambled tofu which gave me the lovely surprise of the most delicious roasted tomatoes I’ve ever had. My friend’s non vegan options was also really generous (the bacon sandwich came with 4 slices of the thickest bacon I’ve seen). I got to try Amsterdam black tea for the first time. It’s a bit like gunpowder tea. I’m not a spiced-tea person but it was actually really please and nice to try a local flavour. The waiter was incredibly attentive and at the end of the meal gave us really detailed tips on where to visit and go for good night life (also loved his nail varnish)! Excellent brunch spot, not to be missed if you’re visiting. If you’re trying to find it from the street, you need to go into the shopping mall and take the elevator upto the top, as this is not clear from Google...
Read moreThis café, located high up in a building, offers a stunning 360° view of Amsterdam, which was easily the highlight of my visit. The view alone makes it worth a visit, especially if you’re looking for a unique spot to enjoy your meal.
The breakfast menu is fairly priced, and the food was not only absolutely delicious but also came in portions that felt very reasonable for the price. While individual items might seem a bit more expensive, the quality of the food and the overall experience more than justify the cost.
The café can get quite busy, and the space is relatively small, spread across two floors, but that didn’t bother me too much—it added to the cozy atmosphere. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and just genuinely kind, which made the visit even more enjoyable.
This was my second time here, and I’m already looking forward to returning the next time I’m...
