My recent visit to Bar Mokum was a delightful experience that truly stood out in the bustling city. Nestled in the heart of the neighborhood, this cozy bar offers a unique blend of local charm and vibrant nightlife, making it a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists alike.
Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The decor, a thoughtful mix of modern and rustic elements, creates a comfortable yet stylish setting. The lighting is just right, offering a cozy ambiance without being too dim. It's clear that attention to detail is a priority here, and it contributes significantly to the overall experience.
The service at Bar Mokum was exceptional. The staff were not only attentive but also genuinely friendly, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. They were knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations that did not disappoint. Their passion for creating a memorable experience for their guests was evident throughout our visit.
The drink selection was impressive, featuring a variety of local beers, craft cocktails, and fine wines. I opted for one of their signature cocktails, which was skillfully prepared and beautifully presented. The quality of the ingredients and the care put into each drink were apparent with every sip.
What sets Bar Mokum apart is its commitment to creating a sense of community. It's the kind of place where conversations flow easily between tables, where locals and visitors alike can come together and share stories. This sense of belonging is a rare find and something that truly makes Bar Mokum special.
However, it's worth noting that the bar can get quite crowded on weekends, which might not suit everyone's preference. While this is a testament to its popularity, arriving early or visiting on a weekday might provide a more relaxed experience.
In conclusion, Bar Mokum offers an inviting atmosphere, exceptional service, and high-quality drinks, making it a standout establishment. Whether you're looking for a place to unwind after work or a cozy spot to gather with friends, Bar Mokum is a place where every visit feels like a special occasion. It's a gem in the city that effortlessly combines the warmth of a local pub with the sophistication of a...
Read moreI would NOT recommend this place. Simple dĂ©cor, zero vibe, and the bar tender seems to hate his job. Came here with a group of 11 after a pre-wedding dinner. Upon entering the small cocktail bar, there were about 5 other patrons. I informed the bar tender we were a large group before we all entered and he already seemed annoyed, and stated âyou know this is a cocktail bar right? I only have about 7 beersâ. I acknowledged and asked him if he can accommodate us, he begrudgingly said yes. We sat at the couch area in the back, and we decided to start with one drink as to not inconvenience the bar tender. We asked for 11 shots of well tequila, he asked if we were planning to stay or just have the shot. I again asked, is it ok that we stay because that would be our preference and he forcefully said yes that fine. He came back with our shots shortlyafter, placed the tray on the table then went back to the bar. Though cold, the tequila was not very appetizing. We asked for a shaker with ice so we could dilute it down which is when the bar tenderâs responses went aggressive. He basically criticized us for how we wanted our drinks several times, didnât want us to shake ourselves, threw his tray behind the bar while murmuring comments under his breath. We paid for our drinks and left. Iâm sure he was having a bad day or something but thatâs not how you treat a group of thirsty customers. Bad service, bad tequila, bad vibes, I would not recommend coming...
Read moreVisited this place for the first time on a Saturday evening early October. Theyâve been around for almost a year, but only now just discovered this âhidden gemâ of Cocktail Bars in Amsterdam. These Guys know what they are doing. Had the pleasure of trying one of their signature cocktails and 2 custom-made ones. Especially made and mixed for me. One of these was an Old Fashioned inspired one and the best I have ever had! Wow. The first I started off with was a âRauwdouwer" ( loosely translates to ârough-and-tumbleâ a dark-ân-stormy inspired Cocktail with William & George Rum, lime, Thomas Henry ginger beer, kumquat, lime leaf. ) I liked it, but I wonder how this cocktail would have tasted using a darker rum instead (think Mount Gay from Trinidad). The 3rd cocktail was one based on Chartreuse - a French liqueur from the 16th century. This Cocktail deserves a spot on their menu. Exquisite - a complex blend of herbs and citrus-sweet tastes. Who needs dessert?
If you like, each cocktail comes with a story. Some history. A modern twist. Bar tenders are very friendly and here for a casual chat or for stories on Amsterdam, Dutch Gon (Jenever) or any other chat if you like. Great modern âspeakeasyâ hidden Cocktail bar with an undeniable Dutch Amsterdam twist.
Boy will we go back...
