Broodbakker Simon Meijssen — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I visited your bakery this morning, excited to try some treats. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant due to the extremely rude and xenophobic behavior of a red-haired lady working there. I greeted her with a smile and a "good morning," but was met with rudeness instead.

As an expat, I responded in English when she spoke Dutch, asking for a soft cookie and a chocolate muffin. She curtly told me the cookies weren't soft (which they clearly were). Despite this, I still ordered one along with a muffin. However, when I got home, I discovered she had given me a vanilla muffin instead of the chocolate one I ordered. To add to the frustration, the cookie turned out to be soft, exactly as I had asked!

I urge the management to address this issue. This employee clearly needs training on both the products and, more importantly, customer service. Customers come to spend their money and expect a basic level of courtesy and competence in return. A simple "thank you" isn't too much to ask.

Given the number of similar reviews, it's disheartening to see that many others have also had negative experiences, especially with this same employee. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and leads to improvements.

RUDE and unhygienic. I used to go there before with no problems but since this sour new person (dyed red hair at the time) started working there, this morning was the worst. I politely said good morning to everyone when I entered, she came in to restock the shelf and turned around with already a sour expression asking if she can help. I politely ordered a pizza slice and a tart IN DUTCH. She grabbed the pizza with her bare hand, put it in the bag and without warming it up, tossed it onto the counter. I asked her in English to PLEASE heat it up, she got angry right away and said she can't understand... The bakery is open from 7:00 am however you go at 8:00 am you don’t get a reply when you say good morning and can’t get any additional pastries until 9:00 am. If you need pastries for a birthday you need them early, before arriving to the office. If it’s open so early why not everything is available, which probably I could understand if the 2 persons working were a BIT friendly. All the expectations are gone.
