Burgermeester | Jordaan — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Stopped for a quick lunch at Burgermeester on Elangracht in the Jordaan District recently and enjoyed our burgers. Opening hours are 12pm to 11pm daily.

Arrived shortly after opening during the middle of the week. There were few other people so no problem finding a seat inside. There is indoor and outdoor seating at this Burgermeester. Menu expectedly features a handful of burgers, extra toppings and sides. You can order regular size burger, mini sized or a a mini-trio if you want to sample a few different burger types.

On the occasion we had a mini Spanish lamb burger that was very good. Minced lamb was seasoned and grilled well, chorizo, jalepeno and other toppings were tasty. We also much enjoyed the regular cheeseburger with jalepenos. Similarly, everything was fresh and tasted nice. Burgermeester bakes buns fresh each day, they are are firm, a bit like a toasted bun, holding everything together nicely without becoming soggy.

In the end, these were good burgers, something we'd seek out again when in the mood for a burger lunch in this...

I found the burger at this restaurant to be disappointing. It lacked flavour, was dry, and the bread was hard to eat because that too was dry. I noticed the waiter cleaning the table with a tissue, which did not inspire confidence in the cleanliness of the restaurant. The tables themselves were also relatively dirty, and with the sun's reflection, you could see remnants of oil from previous meals. I would have to give them a zero for cleanliness.

Where the restaurant excels is in its service. The lady who served us was incredibly friendly and greeted us with a warm smile. She was also very efficient in getting our order ready.

I wouldn't go back to that place. There are so many burger joints in Amsterdam...

If I could give them one extra 🌟 I would. This place was always popular and never lost its good reputation. Today I decided to stop by, after a long time, more than a year. And I'm so glad I did. They still have an interesting selection of burger dishes ;) This time I tried Deluxe cheddar. Very juicy, fresh meet, sweetness from caramelized onions and picant jalapeno flavours were making me happy bite by bite. Polite and friendly staff, clean shop, probably the best in town. They have good selection of fries, jalapeno and harissa mayo...mmmm Also, they surprised me nicely with a generous tasting portion of their healthy freshly made milkshake with no sugar added.
