Honestly extremely very…average. Granted when I say average that’s a banging cup of European flat white so it’s a 4 star āļø (I wish I could Dave portnoy these reiviews this is really a 3.7) Roast was a little bitter (that’s over roasted for you normies), seating was meh, and kind of a messy shop tbh Obviously blows the brains 🧠 out of the italian burn your face off volcano or the America can’t even call it coffee trash but honestly I expected more… Maybe I have become a bit too snootish? Do I expect too much? Possibly. But I’m also one of the top coffee reviewers this side of the prime meridian so there’s that Also wth are those take away cups? Those are .02 plastic coated trash - come on get me that expensive fake ā€œcompostableā€ stuff with fire branding

Rum Baba is my favorite cafe in Amsterdam - for years I have been a daily customer and have known all the team and indulge me with their coffee expertise. Rum baba coffee artistry is hands off amazing, they deliver delicious coffee from great beans that are roasted at home. Perfect temperature, perfect roast, perfect flavor! Batch brew, Flat white, Capuccino, cold Brew, Matcha or whatever option you order they will deliver it to you with excellence (also they offer some sweet decadent delights to accompany the wonderful coffee selection) If you love coffee come here and delight your palate!

Had such a lovely experience during my visit to Amsterdam while I was traveling from the US. The coffee is delicious! I think it was one of the best flat whites I have ever had. To make things ever better, the baristas were so friendly and patiently explained everything. I went in twice because I enjoyed it so much. The coffee literally tastes like cherries! When I went in- they had different espresso offerings for each day so it was so fun to compare the two flat whites I had. I also got their loaves while I was there. Very moist and delicate. This is probably a coffee shop I will miss dearly

Nestled in the heart of Amsterdam is Rum Baba, a specialty coffee spot that quickly became a personal favorite. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with an aura of authenticity, making it evident that this is no run-of-the-mill coffee joint.

Space-wise, it's a refreshing blend of openness and style. The environment uniquely combines the vivacious energy of a bustling specialty coffee place with pockets of tranquility, creating spots where you can indulge in some quiet reflection, or engage in a light-hearted chat, depending on your mood. It's clear that thoughtful consideration has gone into the design, ensuring it caters to both those eager for a quick caffeine fix and those looking to linger a little longer.

One of the standout features of Rum Baba is its commendable focus on the essence of a specialty coffee shop – the coffee itself. Instead of diverting their energy towards a plethora of pastries, they've honed in on perfecting their brew. For coffee connoisseurs, the range of roasts available for purchase is akin to a treasure trove. Whether you're into deep flavors or something lighter and fruitier, there's likely a blend that'll resonate with your palate.

And for the home barista? Their retail selection doesn't disappoint. From filter holders to beginner-friendly slow coffee brewing, Rum Baba ensures every coffee enthusiast leaves with more than just a cup of their delicious brew.

Speaking of the brew, it's an experience in itself. Each cup reflects a dedication to quality, and it's evident that the beans are not only sourced with care but roasted to perfection. The baristas are knowledgeable and passionate, always willing to offer a recommendation or explain the nuances of a particular blend.

In summary, if you're in Amsterdam and seeking an authentic specialty coffee experience that's a cut above the rest, Rum Baba should top your list. It's a haven for genuine coffee lovers, a place where quality reigns supreme, and every visitor is treated to a coffee experience they're not...

Rum baba is my neighbourhood coffee shop. I really enjoy this place for a quick to go coffee, they make fantastic flat whites, and they really know their coffee. There is very limited seating, so I have never sat inside and there is other places on the street that provide better and more affordable pasteries so I really see this as a take away coffee spot with some of the best coffee in the city. I have however had mixed results with their beans, I bought a bag of one of their diamond blends and it tasted very chemically flavoured, I couldn't explain it but it was very expensive and I had to throw away most the bag even after serving my friends some. It smelt very strong of almost candy I am not sure what it was. But all of their yellow bag espresso beans...
