De Bakkerswinkel Centrum — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I was there with my husband for a Sunday breakfast being the last day of our weekend trip to Amsterdam . I ordered eggs on toast with a cup of tea and I saw other tables having some jam so i figured we can help ourselves to some jam that was on a counter since we were each given a little dish with our food . I took some jam and mins later the server came and reprimanded us for taking the jam . He kept saying that there are no self service in their establishment and I was surprised . I checked the menu again and asked if we had to pay for it . He said no but left in a huff . Needless to say ... I didnt feel like eating anymore after what happened. I was embarrassed and upset . When we finished we got up and went to the cashier to pay . The server said good bye but i moved on without any reply . He came forward to the cashier and started scolding us in Dutch to the cashier and my husband about how rude his wife is . I was right between my husband and him . After a 2 min tirade in front of other people waiting to be seated and those eating , i had enough and I said to him "that is enough " in Dutch . At which he stopped and replied indeed that was enough and went off disgruntled . This must be one of the single worse dining experience I have experienced ....

Splendid foods and services. The BEST breakfast and brunch meal I ever had in Amsterdam. I came two twice within my 5 days trip here. The breakfast options are good variety and not to mention their bakery choices!

🥐🥖🍞 I had bakery breakfast set first time and it comes with two drinks, the breads served in the cute and warm basket with butter, three delicious jams, so yum that I bought two jars of jams to bring home in Taiwan! The jam was refreshing, I had raspberry jam, lemon curd and some fruit jam with basil.

🥣🍎 Second day I came back and have lunch, I had soup of the day with sour bread, apple pastry and yogurt shake. The soup was made of beans, ginger and some other ingredients. It was well seasoned, heartfelt warm, so nice on a rainy day.

The place is running by family, cheerful people and nice service both times I visited. Cheers to you guys! :)

The vibe is very cozy and inviting food is okay.. as for the service some of the team was very friendly and nice and some didn’t understand much about customer service.. I ordered cappuccino and a egg and salmon breakfast, the coffee was nice, the food was disappointing. Just 2 pieces of bread with two eggs and smoked salmon. I asked the waiter for some kind of cheese or souce since it’s very dry and I can’t even eat it. She gave me a really wired solution like ketchup.. and she called the manager to come and I asked for maybe cheese usually this dish served with cream cheese. He was not very nice with his answer.. said this is what you order. In the end of the day they came back with cheese but they could do it and check with the kitchen instead of making me feel uncomfortable. And I recommend them to add some kind of cheese or other kind of sauce to the dish since otherwise it is very dry and not something that...
