We were recommended to go here, as we visiting on holiday. When we arrived about 7.30, there was only two customers- not a great sign! Quite inviting though, reasonable decor. Not a very large restaurant, and the tables a little too close. Has no alcohol licence, which is a bit of a negative. Ordered water. My friend ordered carbonara, an I asked for a recommendation- meat balls, together with garlic bread ciabatta. Within 15 mins the place was 75% full (about 18 covers). Unfortunately, there was only one person serving, with two people preparing food, Hence there was a delay in getting food. (Largely because so many customers arrived at once, including a table of 8) Carbonara looked great and tasted delicious. The meat balls not so good. Quite bland, and the size of the meat balls were tiny! I was searching through the pasta to find them. The bread was part-baked, and cooked to order- about 6 small thin slices. ,with a small tub of garlic butter, for you to spread. It’s not too difficult to have fresh bread ready, so when I asked for another, the delay meant I was almost finished my meal, when it eventually arrived. Price was ok, at around €58, but not great value for money. I would try other restaurants if I was coming back to Amsterdam- a one that...
Read moreCame here with pretty high hopes after reading the reviews and wanted to try a new restaurant. Unfortunately I am disappointed as the food wasn’t great, in fact some wasn’t even okay. The restaurant didn’t have a table of 3 and the waitress lead me to another restaurant nearby(?) but we went back since I wanted to try the restaurant out. We ordered three pasta and one serving of fries but the wait was long even when the restaurant is half empty. The meatballs in my pasta was literally too raw to eat, one even tasted off and sour. My plate was dirty with another pasta’s sauce. The other pastas were mediocre at best, one too salty and another was just too far off an authentic carbonara. Nevertheless, the service was good and the staff was friendly albeit slow. They help cancelled my pasta but I lowkey hope they would do something more as they literally served me a...
Read moreI recently had two very different visits to Harry’s Pasta Bar. The first time, unfortunately, wasn’t great. I waited about 15 minutes after being seated, and the staff didn’t seem very cooperative. I don’t recall their names, but one had blonde hair and another had short black hair. When I tried to order just a single dish of pasta, there was a bit of attitude—one staff member told me to “wait” pretty aggressively, and then the other refused to take my order because I only wanted that one dish.
That said, I decided to give it another try a couple of days later in the afternoon, and I had a much better experience. The staff that day were all very polite and helpful her name is Rachel. Thanks to that second visit, I’d actually recommend the place to my family now. I just think they need to work on ensuring that all their staff are consistently friendly and...
