illy Caffè — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I’ve been coming to this place very often to get my coffee. On Sunday 29th of November 2020, I got so much disappointed with the service and the way I and my friend was treated. Firstly we enter the cafe and order the latte coffee and then the lady said they are closed. I found it very strange because the place was open and everything looks like functioning. I had to ask her again why they are closed and the lady said that the toilets are closed but we did not ask for toilets we ask for “the latte”. So the order was processed and I and my friend was having a conversation and then the lady from the café interrupted us and said that we had to leave the place. Now! We were the only one visitors at that time!! We spend they’re not more than five minutes and were about to take our coffee but literally, we were kicked out! I had an absolutely delightful experience at Café Illy in Amsterdam. The chocolate cake was fantastic and incredibly delicious, and the Italian Lungo espresso complemented it perfectly, creating a wonderful coffee experience.

The bill of 7.5 euros was very reasonable considering the high quality of the products and the excellent service provided by the café.

The ambiance of the place was enjoyable and cozy, making it a perfect spot to relax and savor the coffee and desserts.

Never one to post a negative review for the public to see but the absolute rudeness was beyond me! I’ve just arrived in Amsterdam after a long trip so I’m not really sure where toilets would be located. After a long walk trying to find somewhere to stop, have a cold drink and charge my phone I got here and asked to use the bathroom first. The lady serving me said it was for customers only and I was happy enough to pay 0.50 and buy something but the lady behind her was being very snarky and said “it’s not a public toilet” and continued on so abruptly.
