I took my 12 year old son on this boat trip after being recommended by a local to do a canal boat tour. I thought it would be interesting but the experience far surpassed my expectations. It was about €20 for me and €10 for my son and what we got was over an hour’s tour past countless sights from the canal with knowledgeable and often funny (without being too much) commentary from the friendly guide, who clearly loves his city and introducing people to it. I felt it was a fantastic and excellent value experience and commend the guide for his commentary and skipper skills - especially when neatly backing away from a bridge when a much larger vessel came the other way too fast! I learned things I would definitely not have without doing the tour. My son loved it too but was a little confused by the mention of the Bulldog coffee shop chain starting from the basement of an adult shop (which could perhaps have been left out for any children on board, although it was only one mention so can be excused!) Overall, if you’re wavering about whether to do this I’d say go for it and you’ll be very...

The tour guide/driver had great English and a good sense of humour. Easy to understand and follow along. The boat was very comfortable and nice (as long as the weather is nice out since there is no roof). Tonnes of legroom too. After passing so many other tour boats this felt like a private sprinter van while the others were using coach buses. The small group really makes it easier to hear everything.
My only gripe is the tour had to deviate due to a well advertised event (swim Amsterdam) yet the driver acted surprised about it. I expect a local tour company to know about a major event going on 1km away, but regardless we got to see other parts of the city and he carried on quite well.
Highly...
Read moreWe had a superb trip guided by Maxim, who was excellent at his job and built great rapport with the group. We had a lovely, sunny jaunt through narrow canals, with a commentary that was not too distracting and always interesting.
We booked through the Lovers Boats website and all the Lovers staff we spoke to were extremely unhelpful and actively pointed us in the wrong direction (we were in the right place, they made us walk to a completely different location so we actually missed the boat we were scheduled to take). Once it was finally clarified that trip would be through Kinboats and we spoke to one of their staff they were all nothing but helpful and charming. It made me even more pleased to be with Kinboats once we discovered how awful...
