Probably the worst experience I ever had in Amsterdam (or in anywhere in the world). The city was great but the this restaurant probably has the worst service I have ever had in my life.
I went there with a friend before my train departed. The waitress said the food would be ready in 10 minutes so we ordered spaghetti, then we waited 18 minutes the food was still not here but I had to go catch my train. I asked the waitress to check the kitchen and she just told me I still needed to wait. Seven minutes before my train departed, I had to go. The waitress chased me out yelling "You can't go!" and threatened to turn me in the police until I told her that I left 13 euros for the spaghetti with my friend. With no "sorry" or whatever, she just went back to the restaurant directly like nothing happened.
According to my friend who stayed, the food took 27 minutes to prepare and she gave my pasta to a homeless guy as a Christmas gift as that was...
Read moreI'll be brief, since I didn't like this place as much as others in Amsterdam. Honestly, their food was okay, although I only tried their English Breakfast. Prices are about the same as most places in the city and there is no atmosphere to speak of, but when you're hungry you don't really care for such things. What ruined my experience totally, was the staff who served me, they are rude, incompetent, slow and totally lacking in anything that resembles manners. I am a friendly person, and I expect to be treated well when I spend money. If it wasn't for the convenient location on Damrak, I'd never eat there again. Pastabar staff should realise that it is customers that pay their wages and to respect that never changing reality. What a shame and probably never again, avoid, avoid, avoid! There is a similar place, a few doors up from Pastabar, eat there instead, same price but they'll give you respect! Hope this is helpful and take care!...
Read moreFood (Pasta) was good but not very special, could have been tastier. Therefore too expensive. Service team is slow and also the definite winner of the daily Not-My-Job-Award. I was asking for the receipt, got it and asked to pay with Visa. He mumbled something very short and pointed back to where he was coming from. I expected him to go and get the credit card machine (as usual, I had never seen it different) but he didn't come back anymore. He passed a couple of times but was ignoring me. Obviously they have a fixed credit card machine so one has to take the receipt and go to their "counter" to pay there.... (2 from the neighbour table told me finally after watching me getting more and more grumpy :) ) The guest sitting at our table before us already had to wait very long to get his change after he called the...
