Service asked us immediately if we would like to order something else, before i had my last sip of my coffee. She did this also to the people sitting next to us, so this rude behaviour was already expected. The coffee was ok nothing special it’s drinkable. The pie was the worst pie of my life, it was a frozen cake already bought from the supermarket and they just brought if to me half frozen, fully wet. Also notably my friend wanted to buy the muffin, cause why not and it was displayed on the card for 3.50€. When she wanted to order, the nicer server (not the woman) mentioned that the muffin was in fact 5€ and not like displayed 3.50€. I am very sure they don’t have more than 10 cards, it’s not that hard to replace them or put a sticker on it or even just cross out the price. Alsooo you can’t split the bill, because it’s a system thing. We split everything on this trip and it was never a problem and even the smallest local shop had no problem. This is a shop near the central station where it is expected that there will mostly be tourists, so maybe try to be nicer and give the people a pleasant stay or just search for a different job. By the way while I was writing I saw that she also billed me too much for the apple pie, but I guess they also “forgot” to change the price of the pie one the...

We had some English breakfast and fish and chips. I didn't know anyone could destroy English breakfast like that: canned beans were served cold, sausages were overcooked (and thus hard), bacon was chewy, there was a strand of hair on one of the eggs. We didn't expect much for the fish and chips, but still they could have at least ensured those frozen fish fillets warmed up upon frying. My friend asked for a mint tea, there was mint but no tea. They gave a mint infusion–hot water with some mint leaves. And when we asked the server about it, they were quite aggressive about it. "Don't you know what mint tea is?" The service was terrible–and I live in Paris.

Read moreI recently visited Prins Heerlijk for brunch, attracted by its great location near Amsterdam Centraal and the positive reviews. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to our expectations. Our food took almost 40 minutes to arrive, which felt a bit long. My friend ordered a fresh orange juice, but we were told it was unavailable and were offered apple juice instead. To our surprise, it wasn’t freshly made but came from a bottle. The coffee arrived quickly, but by the time the food came, I didn’t have anything left to drink.
We ordered two English breakfasts, but the flavors were lacking; the dish felt quite plain and simple, especially for the price. While the location is convenient and the service was polite, the experience could definitely be improved with more attention to flavor and ensuring that drinks are as fresh as advertised. Hopefully, these small changes can make a big difference for...
