We had delivery from Roti Shop via the Thuisbezorgd website. We tried a few things from the menu:
Satay: chicken satay skewers. No surprises here, a simple starter but very tasty and plenty of sauce.
Fried banana with satay: a battered fried banana slice bathed in satay sauce. A bit too sweet to treat as a starter, but made for a tasty desert.
Gevulde bara met ketjap rundvlees: a savoury Indian donut stuffed with a generous serving of chopped beef cooked in sweet soy sauce. Similar to teriyaki. Incredibly tasty!
Roti rol kerrie kipfilet: curried chicken legs with roti. Three small chicken drumsticks, a large serving of boiled potatoes, and a decent sprinkling of chopped green beans all served in a mild curry sauce. Comes with a serving of flatbread to soak up the sauce. Also comes with a small serving of extra spicy yellow hot sauce, which you should definitely try before pouring it all on top! A little messy to eat thanks to the bones, but there was plenty of meat which was kept juicy by them. The curry sauce could have been a bit more flavoursome, but still enjoyable and very filling.
Roti rol pikante kipfilet: spicy curried shredded chicken breast with roti. Very similar to the other roti dish, but with boneless breast meat and a spicier curry sauce. Very tasty.
They also sell a range of Fernandes sodas, interesting Surinamese soft drinks, which are worth a try.
Overall, a good takeaway meal. Service was reasonably fast, and the food was filling and generally quite tasty. We will be ordering...
Read moreGot to this place but couldn’t really find it as it didn’t have clear signage. As I entered, it looked like they were preparing a photoshoot to use for advertising the place. Good for marketing the business but it interrupted the entire place during opening hours. We got there with the intention to sit and eat but couldn’t because the photographer and makeup artist had setup on all the seating that should have been for customers.
Food looked okay in the display, but when ordering they couldn’t find the menu because of the photoshoot happening. Got the menu, with no English, but that was okay we knew what we wanted and we figured it out. There was one gentleman that spoke English and other languages, he also helped us out.
We ordered two Surinamese chicken rotis and one lamb roti, both came with green beans and potatoes. One thing I did notice, was that the food was warmed in the microwave, which turned me off initially but after trying it. I was surprised, will update if there is any...
Read moreOrdered through Thuisbezorgd and honestly, such a waste of money. The bakabana was soggy and tasted really bad compared to all the ones I’ve had before. The rice was dry, the roti wasn’t good either. Even the fried dough appetizer was so oily ! I loved the yellow spicy sauce they send with the food ! I ate it next day with the food i cooked at home ! Delivery also took quite long, and to make it worse they forgot the pinda sauce. When I called, the lady kept saying she had added the extra cup I ordered… but it simply wasn’t there. And they did send it with another driver later ! ( which is a good sign tho , that they do care if the order is not complete ).. To be honest, this might be the worst Surinamese food I’ve had in Holland. Maybe I was just unlucky that day, I don’t know… i wish them the best and i hope they do care about the way they pack the things so the food will be delivered is...
