Unfortunately I loved this place but the last experience has put me off for life.
Went in here on Sunday the 9th of July, was greeted by a condescending guy with a beard. Who reckons he drives to London every week and was a restaurant manager which I thought was unlikely due to lack of customer care.
We arrived around lunchtime and it was not busy at all, they had everyone sort of spread out. I don't see any available seating for our group (5). The rude guy tries to pack us all on a table just about suitable for 4 people with another table lower down and offset to the side which wasn't acceptable for a group that wanted to eat together.
The back part of the establishment was "closed" which was funny as the last time we came here as a group of 5 they opened the downstairs back area and sat us on a table that was suitable. Not that hard but the guy wanted to keep his section that he was serving all packed together incase he has to walk too far, poor him.
At this point I wasn't happy but my group being the easygoing people they are, were happy to sit separately as they were hungry and wanted to eat here as it was the first time in Amsterdam (and I personally recommended it and brought them here).
The rude "restaurant manager" approaches me from behind and says "if you have patience, you can wait like 15 - 20mins for that group to leave and I can get you on that table." I took this as an offence, how can you tell me to wait 15mins for a suitable table when the whole place is empty you just don't want to make 'more' work for yourself. So when I responded "no its okay, YOU would prefer we sit here". He got upset and started telling us that this is Europe and I better get used to it? Not sure what he means by that, seemed like a racist dig but I think this horrible service has put me off the bulldog brand for life if these are the representatives you think are suitable, than I wish you well.
Shame I had to delete my 5* view and you guys are fortunate not everyone in my group has written a Google review because that would be sure to bring down...
Read moreA system is just as strong as its weakest link. (Theory of Constraints or TOC.) That's the reason I'm just giving 1 star!
There was a notice saying that people should pay € 0.50 to use the bathroom for the first time and then was up to them to leave something. After paying for the first time, I decided not to pay anymore as I was drinking and paying for the drinks.
After going for the second and third time without problems, I was forbidden of going another time by the responsible for charging and kicked out of the place by the security. When I was out, I tried to inform another security that maybe they should take off the notice as to not have problems with other clients, but he didn't want to listen to me.
It is hard to say who was right and that is not the point here! Maybe the notice was not supposed to be there anymore. Maybe the employees were not informed of the new policy. There are endless maybes... However, it does not matter! From my perspective, what matters is how the employees reacted! If the former (old policy), they should have explained to me that the sign was not valid anymore and could have taken it off of the wall. If the latter (new policy), they should have listened to me and asked another employee whether something had changed.
I hope someone who works there read this in order to understand the root cause of the problem and avoid it to happen in the future! Asking at least 5 times Why is a...

I walked into Bulldog Leidseplein expecting to sit down, relax, and enjoy my visit like any other paying customer. However, the experience I had was beyond disappointing and utterly unwelcoming. First, I asked to sit at a regular table, and although there were clearly open seats, I was told by the staff that I had to sit at the bar. I complied without any issue, even though it made no sense.
Then, when I finally settled at the bar, I wanted to take a moment to decide on my order. But instead of being given that courtesy, the staff member—who clearly had an attitude—asked me what I wanted and seemed annoyed that I wasn’t ready to order immediately. Her attitude was like I was about to “make a mess and leave” without ordering. This was absolutely insulting and inappropriate!
I was so fed up that I decided to leave, but first I tried explaining the issue to a supervisor. Shockingly, instead of even listening to what happened, they dismissed my complaint and asked me to leave immediately!
This treatment was rude, judgmental, and downright unprofessional. I expected far more from such a well-known establishment and am extremely disappointed. I would advise anyone thinking of visiting Bulldog Leidseplein to be cautious—you might get treated like an inconvenience rather...
