We had a wonderful evening of warm and friendly hospitality and good eats at Sorae with our friends who are local.

They have a solid selection of both broths inspired by native broths from around the world, as well as a good core selection of sauce ingredients at the sauce bar for you to mix and match. They do a good job of making each of the broths friendly to the local market sensibilities, but still keeping the core flavours and aromas of the native soup bases.

While the variety of items on offer is a more modest selection compared to the vast menus in Asia or North America, the items that they do offer are all high quality and well plated. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh. I'd MUCH rather have quality than quantity.

I have to say the delightful and warm decor and hospitality is what sets this place apart. Whoever they chose as an interior designer created a modern space that's still cozy and intimate. When the restaurant filled, it was still easy to have conversations at our larger table. Of course, none of this would have been as enjoyable as it was without the staff always making sure we have what we need, and explaining everything to prepare for the experience.

Pro Tips: Try to order all your food at the same time, as it does take some time for the kitchen to prep the food for service. Subsequent add-ons can take longer than you might expect to come out. I would wholeheartedly recommend Sorae. We had a lovely hostess named Queenie who went the extra mile to make our first hot pot experience seamless and memorable. I have dietary restrictions, and she took the time to read out ingredients, double-check everything, and even offered me a small sample to test for allergies before ordering. She didn't have to, but her care and attentiveness made all the difference. My first hotpot experience, and I couldn’t have picked a better place! From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and patient. They took the time to explain how everything worked, which made me feel super comfortable even though I was completely new to it.
