Tortillas — Restaurant in Eindhoven

My wife and I lived in Humble (Houston area), Texas for several years. Because of the big Mexican community there, you can find a lot of fantastic mexican restaurants there such as Papasito's, Arandas etc. My introduction to Mexican food was in genuine Mexican restaurants in Vancouver, during my study times there. Suffice to say, we know good Mexican food.

This was our 2nd visit to Tortillas in Eindhoven ( They're also in Breda & Tilburg). The fact this was our 2nd time, already indicates we liked it. First visit I had the big burritos with extra jalapenos, second time I had the variacion de las Tortillas with extra jalapenos as well. The taste was pretty spot on with the burrito. The only tiny nitpick might be the outer ends of the baked flour of the burrito ; they were a little dry/brittle. I chose the fillet chicken meat for my variacion de las tortillas which came in 2 small bowls mixed and chopped up in sause. I expected solid grilled chicken fillet pieces, but the taste was pretty good nonetheless. Service and ambience are very good overal. They're particularly friendly. Waiting for the bill ? Just ask for it when they come collect the empty dishes. People might be lured into Rodeo across the street, with its more trendy ambience, but please go to Tortillas instead. Rodeo food is pure garbage. Avoid it...

We tried nachos as a starter which was not good. Actually this was the worst one that i ate among all Mexican restaurants. Nachos are swimming in the sauce water! The cheese was really really regular cheap one, no taste.

And as a main dish, we ordered fajitas and steak. First of all, fajitas was a fully disappointment! Event meats were not cut as it should be! Taste is not good and very funny thing is there was no guacamole sauce in the dish! This is not a Mexican food, definitely. And the steak was also not good since there was a sauce on it which is harder than the meat. I couldnt taste the meat other than the sauce! I ordered as a medium cooked but it was not medium unfortunately! Therefore, i will never visit this place again since the taste is not good enough.

Location of the restaurant is very close to city center, it is very nice.

Plates are generally small. Prices are fair enough, but compare to taste, it is definitely expensive.

We came across this restaurant during a weekend stay in Eindhoven. The entourage has a nice Mexican feel. The food was decent but honestly not GREAT. We have had really good Mexican food and probably that has an impact on our review. I had a piña colada and it was really disappointing. I have no clue where they went wrong but it just tasted like a coconut margarita. The service was also not as we thought it should be. We didn’t have a menu, others were able to order before us eventhough they came in later. I could name a few more things that disappointed us but I will leave this review for what it is at this point. I personally would not recommend...
