It is a fine restaurant, not only its sit-in food but also take-away food is nice. We like Thai food and have been there several times. However, we had a very BAD experience yesterday. We stepped into this restaurant around 20:00 yesterday after swimming, so tired and starving, especially my 5-year old daughter. It was a busy time there, surprisingly there were two chiefs working in its open kitchen. We had waited for more than 10 mins with nothing on our table , no one came to us and there were even no menu and cutleries on the table. so, we had to ask those things ourselves from an impatient waitress. We quickly ordered our dishes and waited for another 30 mins without any food. When we asked how soon we could get our food, the waitress simply said us it is a busy time especially when big groups of people come to the restaurant. We understood but still wondering why there were only two chiefs busy in the kitchen at this busy time and apparently it was not wise to accept more customers. Then, We has waited for another 20 mins, however, there was no sign our food were coming. My daughter and wife were tired and starving, they kept on feeding themselves with only drinks and mint candies at the reception. It was very SAD to see such. So, I went to another waitress, who likes look a chief staff. When I asked, she conveniently said to me our food were being prepared. But, another 15 mins past, no food!!! later, she came to us and said there were still two tables of dishes needed to be cooked before our turn!! I felt so annoyed and be cheated!! They could simply suggest us either choose another restaurant or say in advance we had to wait for quite moment to get food. but what they did was holding you there and even cheated us by saying food was being made. It was indeed a very bad experience, I think we will probably never go to this place.
I would recommend people to go to another Thai nearby called cho fah eat Thai. Food are nicer and at least it says no to new coming customers when it is busy or...
Read moreEager to eat thai we went to this restaurant, as it's almost the only one in town... and this is the point : as they have very few thai restaurants to compete with, they serve a low quality food at unreasonable prices.
As usual, there are two options : menus or "à la carte". We can't say much about "à la carte", as we opted for a menu (precisely, Menu 2, with duck).
The owners clearly know how to present their menu, but that's mere dishonest marketing. Indeed, we've been seduced by a menu which description was very promising, with a wide range of so-called "authentic thai recipies" served one after another. But it turned out to be deceiving as the food was really cheap.
Here is the description of the menu : First is a very sad looking entry plate consisting of 4 items. two pieces of chicken sate in peanut butter (quite good), four small fish balls (disgusting), four tiny spring rolls (uninteresting), four depressing chicken wings (nothing to see with the description that mentioned "chicken wings marinated in traditional thai bbq sauce" they were very dry and plain) Then comes the soup which is quite okay but way below our expectations after having read its appetizing description: Third we have the main dishes- red curry with fish (overcooked fish, probably low quality one, the sauce was fat, thick, cold and tasteless) stir-fried vegetables (too much water in it ! not appetizing !) the duck (we had a lot of duck in the dish, but it was too fat for us)
To sum it up, we feel like what we got in our plate was clearly below what was announced on the (promising and appetizing) menu. Given that the menus are quite expensive, we've been...
Read moreUPDATE: revisiting in Nov 2019, it’s still great, maybe even better than 1-2 years ago. Also the service was (atypical for The Netherlands) fast and efficient even with a packed restaurant on a Friday night.
Great Thai place for n Groningen. Nice open dining space at ground level, with additional seating upstairs. Open kitchen, you can watch the chefs at work.
Fast and friendly service, above Dutch average speed of service.
The green and red curry are our favorite, fish cake and papaya salad as starters. 2 chili spice level is just about right for me, your mileage may vary. On request you can reduce or increase how spicy...
