I specifically asked the guy behind counter that I want the Taro blast Boba with very little to no ice. He pretended to write that instruction down. But eventually, the girl behind the counter made two Taro orders the exact same way, with a bucket load of crushed ice and served it to me and another lady who ordered the same drink. This was a demonstration of poor training and deliberate negligence on the part of the guy (in photos) who really looked like he didn't wanna work there.
The eventual drink, apart from being brain freezing cold, was nowhere close to what Taro Boba teas taste like. And it had an irritating texture of coconut shavings.
I drink Taro tapioca Boba teas in every city I go. Sometimes even twice a day. Of the 40+ I've had in the Netherlands so far, I can hands down say, this was the worst. Unfortunately I fell for the reviews I read here!
And..I was charged 6.50 for a drink that was advertised 5.75. The guy non challantly said - that's old menu, and didn't even offer a receipt...

Today I ordered two Milk Tea Bobo for a total of 9 euros. I asked for less sugar, but the staff indicated that the milk tea has already been made and they cannot change that. Very strange, compared to other bubble tea shops.
Then I went home by foot. The tea is packed in a seemingly strong container with a handle but it kept splashing out onto my clothes and shoes. When I came home I found out it is packed in a regular Dutch container for smoothies etc. and not in a proper, sealed, bubble tea cup. Then I took a sip and I found it not tasting enough like tea. Moreover, the bubbles were very hard. Not only chewy, but really hard. The container is also quite small for a EUR 4,50 drink.
Summary: Not recommended, but in Groningen you don't have many other choices....
Read moreI went to Moong several times. Their cheese teas are good.
The taro blast is disappointing because of the tapioca being such a weird consistency. Consistency being as followed: tapioca is not chewy, it is slimy on the outside and tough inside. I had the taro blast many times but unfortunately it does not seem to be a one time thing.
I had one out of the at least eight times I went there, were the cashier was friendly and helpful. Last time I was at Moong I was waiting for the cashier to say the combined price and to ring me up but he just ended up walking away. I stood there waiting not knowing he already prepared the payment terminal. And it did not seem busy because they stood around talking. Sadly it was not the first time I was helped with poor communication hence this review. I do not recommend Moong. There are other tea shops in Groningen with good drinks and more...
