ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL!
We were looking forward to dining at Puur, however, we had the MOST DISAPPOINTING and quite frankly RUDE EXPERIENCE.
We were shown to our table to find a dog running around. Staff members were touching it and weren’t washing their hands! I asked if it was possible to keep the dog away from our table and the waitress said “I’ll put it upstairs, it’s my dad’s dog and he lives above the restaurant”, although I was met with an incredulous look that I had even suggested the dog was stopped from running around the restaurant.
20 minutes later we still hadn’t seen a menu or been offered a drink. Eventually we ordered some Prosecco and bread. The Prosecco was flat! We had already asked for the wine menu but needed to ask twice more before it was given to us. We complained that the Prosecco was flat, for which we received a dirty look and rudeness.
At this point we’d had enough so decided to leave the restaurant. We’d had maybe two bites of the bread and the restaurant was trying to make us pay for it. Naturally we refused. There was no apology just more rudeness, as if it was our fault that the service was terrible and the Prosecco was flat.
All in all this was a VERY UNPLEASANT experience and a complete waste of our time.
DON’T waste your money dining at PUUR. There are plenty of wonderful eateries in Leiden where you receive a wonderful Dutch welcome...
Read moreThe food was pretty simple, I was expecting better although it wasn't the worst of it. We sat on the terrace. After sitting down at 6:00 p.m., they took good care of us, bringing us the menu and bread, but then no one came to serve us. They brought the first course after 20 minutes without bringing or asking for drinks, eating after 30 minutes without a drink, we had to go inside 3 times to ask about the drink, the bread, the following dishes... Horrible service. The main course we ordered with potatoes, they never arrived, I had to tell the waitress to please remove them from the bill, she forgot and she had to bring another one. Inexperienced waiters, inattentive and unwilling. Very basic...
Read moreWe have just returned from Puur Leiden. The place looks nice but the choice in the menu is ultra small. We had tiny tiny portions of very average quality food. The food contained important ingredients which where not mentioned in the menu. Vegetables were practically not existent. Fries we ordered were also few. Most of all the food was partially too spicy to the point of burning, partially unnaturally sweet (we had a combi plate of two recipies). Finally the Nero d'Avola -the most priced wine in the menu- was a watery red substance. Good that they poured a little quantity of...
