Dined twice at Shieka's - breakfast and lunch.
Shieka's is conveniently located on Back Street, where you can have local meals for breakfast before shopping or for lunch and dinner after shopping, or if you just want to have drinks. There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from.
For breakfast, I had saltfish, herring, greens, spam, and boiled eggs. I also sampled the stew sausage, potatoes, and steak sandwich. I had tamarind juice, but I didn't particularly like it. It tasted like it was on the brink of going bad. Other than that, everything else was good.
One particular server took great care of us, so we made sure to tip her well. On at least 2 occasions there, she made us some delicious mixed cocktails and spruced up the deadly looking rum punch. We stopped in for drinks just because of her hospitality.

Read moreI was told by the locals to come here and I am so grateful. This restaurant has THE BEST OXTAILS I've had in my life Hands down. I've traveled to many countries in the Caribbean and around the world and no other has made oxtails that good. When Jamaican people brag about Oxtails I tellem go to Shieka's in Sint Maarten and chat to me then. It was so good that I took a picture of it. The food was absolutely delicious!!! I wish I could've dined there daily or bring the food with me back to the states. Last time I was there was the summer of 2016 but lemme tellyuh I still think about the food I had there to this day! The calaloo and rice and peas were delicious as well. The service was great along with the food. Taste like my momma made it. I can't wait to return to Sint Maarten and fill my belly here.

Read moreWas wandering the streets and I saw that oxtail was an option here and it was inexpensive (14USD). The oxtail came with rice and salad. It was nicely seasoned, tender and not too salty. The greasy (in a good way) sauce went well with the rice. It was very tasty, good enough that I decided on a second order, this time with rice and peas, and salad. I also tried the ribs, it was a hefty portion for 5USD and not bad. My primary objective in the Caribbean is conch but I will be back the next time I'm in St. Martin for the oxtail.
Not sure why google has it as listed temporarily closed, it was open during my visit a few days ago on...
