For our fifth wedding anniversary, we chose Anjappar Chettinad Indian Restaurant in The Hague, and it turned out to be a memorable celebration. The restaurantâs ambiance is a harmonious blend of traditional Indian elements and contemporary design, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor features rich wooden accents, intricate artwork, and soft lighting, making it both elegant and comfortable.
Our culinary journey began with the Chicken 65 appetizerâa dish that was both flavorful and perfectly spiced. The chicken was tender, with a delightful blend of spices that tantalized our taste buds. To complement this, we ordered a mojito, which was refreshing and balanced, providing a pleasant contrast to the spiciness of the appetizer.
For the main course, we indulged in the plain dosa and the ghee roast masala dosa. The plain dosa was crisp and light, serving as an excellent vehicle for the accompanying sambar and chutneys. The ghee roast masala dosa, however, was the highlightâcrispy on the outside with a rich, buttery flavor, and filled with a savory potato masala that was simply delectable. Our meal concluded with gulab jamun for dessertâsoft, syrup-soaked dumplings that provided a sweet and satisfying end to our dining experience.
Our two-year-old son also had a wonderful time, thanks to the attentive and friendly staff who went out of their way to ensure his comfort. The hospitality at Anjappar is truly top-notch; the staff is knowledgeable about the menu and eager to provide recommendations, enhancing the overall dining experience.
In summary, Anjappar Chettinad Indian Restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience with its exquisite food, tasteful decor, and outstanding service. Our anniversary celebration was made all the more special by the warm and welcoming atmosphere, and we look forward to returning for more delightful meals...

A huge shoutout to Farook, who was our server for the evening. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout the night. Not only did he assist us with thoughtful recommendations from the menu, but he also made sure we were well taken care ofâchecking in to see how we were enjoying the food and if we needed anything. His genuine care added a personal touch that elevated our entire evening.
Now, letâs talk about the foodâwhat an absolute delight! The flavors were authentic, rich, and deeply satisfying, a true celebration of South Indian cuisine. The magic behind the dishes comes from their chef with 17 years of experience, and it absolutely shows in every bite.
Hereâs what we ordered: ⢠Mutton Sukka Varuval (starter): perfectly spiced, tender, and a great way to kick off the meal. ⢠Seeraga Samba Mutton Biryani (available only from Friday to Sunday): an aromatic, flavour-packed masterpiece that instantly transported us to Tamil Nadu! ⢠Special Kesari and Falooda with Kulfi (dessert): the perfect sweet endingâdecadent, colorful, and wonderfully refreshing.
The owner/manager was also incredibly warm and welcoming, and her presence added to the hospitable atmosphere of the restaurant.
Overall, our dinner at Anjappar Den Haag was a five-star experience in every sense. Whether youâre a South Indian food lover or simply looking for a new culinary adventure, this place is a must-visit. We canât...
Read moreWe had a truly comforting experience at Anjappar Den Haag during our recent visit. Being parents of a one-year-old, we were quite worried about how weâd manage food for her while travelling. We even carried an induction stove and groceries, but our hotel didnât allow us to use it or even a water kettle! So we were desperately searching for alternatives when we luckily came across Anjappar.
From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel at ease. Farook was exceptionally kind and attentiveâwhen we asked if food could be prepared for our toddler, he didnât hesitate at all. They specially made a non-spicy version just for her, which really touched us.
Chef Bala even came out personally to explain how each item was prepared. Itâs rare to see that kind of care and transparency. Every staff member was polite, helpful, and patient.
The food itself was absolutely deliciousâauthentic South Indian flavors, just like home. We left with full hearts and full stomachs.Me and my friends used to travel often from Brussels to Utrecht just to enjoy their Seeraga Samba Mutton Biryani and Ambur Chicken Biryani on weekendsâand Iâm happy to say it tastes just as amazing here in Den Haag too! Weâll definitely be travelling here more often now, just for their biryani.
I highly recommend Anjappar Den Haag to all familiesâespecially those travelling with little ones. Itâs not just about the food; itâs about the people who make you feel...
