Secret Garden Bakery — Restaurant in The Hague

Selected on the internet after reading the reviews. Very lovely lunchroom/coffee "tent". Green walls, hanging green and rose garden. Although made of plastic, it still gives atmosphere. After taking a seat, we saw that, like during the heyday of Corona, we still had to order via the QR code. After 10 minutes the cappuccino was brought and "Welcome" followed Euhh.... we had been in the store for more than 10 minutes and seen. We took cappuccino and each a breakfast plate. When the cappuccino came we both laughed. The cappuccino was really tasty only our first "Hague cup" in The Hague. Breakfast board followed and looked good. Egg on the bread was not flavored at all. Next to the cash register were all salt and pepper kegs but nothing on our table. So we just grabbed ourselves. Too bad they use "factory bread" and not a nice sourdough bread for example. Under the egg some mashed avocado and a swirl of pesto oil on top of the sandwich. The mini pancakes...as if they came out of the micro because they are lukewarm, and the last one is cold when you eat it. The yogurt with granola was fine. And 4 more strawberry slices. Why then only 3 stars ...... Hospitality is HOSPITALITY. It is completely absent here. And clean up that mess on the counter instead of leaving it in front of all customers for more than half an hour. This while walking past time and again. The place looks very pleasant and we were greeted with a smile. However, after sitting for 10 minutes in an otherwise empty restaurant, we were asked if we’d looked at the menu, only to be told it’s a QR code menu - bad start in my book. 10 or so minutes after that, we still hadn’t been served. Turns out we needed to order via the website even though the staff weren’t busy. This is always hugely off putting and unfortunately increasingly common. Hospitality should value interacting with customers but this place doesn’t value this opportunity at all. It all very impersonal. The food was decent, nothing special. Terrible service, overpriced and bad egg

This is the second time I went there and both were bad.

The service wasn’t good, one of the staff was even rude. I ordered the club Sandwich and the egg and cheese in it was really bad (like rotten bad) it smelled and tasted awful, I only took one bite and couldn’t even finish it. ( I wasn’t the only one who tasted it).

went and told the staff about it and one of them was extremely rude about it and almost shouted (We can’t take it back).

The owner should reconsider the team.
