First of all, I would say that the pasta itself is really nice. And I fully understand that it is lack of staff and everyone is trying their best.
However it is NOT the reason that we get our food later than the guests who came a least half an hour later than us. My friend came here from Rotterdam, skipped lunch for this meal and we waited for an hour for our food. And we see guests who came and ordered at least half an hour later than us, got THE SAME dish before us.
I understand that you may be busy but this is not acceptable.
Oh wow I hope the food was as fast as the reply and not acceptable to type my name wrong. Oops.
Also as we say, we came from another city. If the restaurant was full, then we apologise. But the restaurant was not full at all and seems like you are trying to say it is our fault? We are late so we should be treated like this? Oh wow so eye-opening.
Oh no need to tell me to love myself. I love myself so much so I need to express my dissatisfaction clearly and who gives you the illusion that I will come again? Paying to ruin my evening? Wow.
And I have worked in the restaurant and I would never treat my guests like that. I respect the work of the chef. The food was good and I understand how busy it could get. But put other guests over us, and the attitude of blaming us? Such a shame.
Also saying us enjoying our life but not respect other people’s hard work? And the owner keeps saying that we should not express our feelings?
Let me just be clear: We respect the chef and the staffs. But we also have the right to say that we are not treated professionally and the attitude in the reply we see is terrible.
So glad that I didn’t keep this to myself and maybe you should optimise the process instead of fighting with your guest. Just a friendly advice...
Read moreI’ve visited this restaurant a few times and always found the food fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, due to repeated negative experiences with a particular male staff member, I won’t be returning, and neither will my friends.
On two separate occasions, I was treated in a rude and patronizing manner by the same staff member. My experience aligns closely with another reviewer who noted similar treatment, suggesting that non-Asian or non-brown customers did not receive the same level of disrespect. I felt exactly the same way. This pattern is concerning and disappointing.
During my last visit, I was rudely informed that the restaurant was closed, even though the door was open and the listed hours indicated it should be open. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially when better alternatives, like VIP—a POC-friendly establishment—are available nearby.
A reminder to the management: all customers, regardless of their background, deserve respectful treatment. I hope you can address this issue so that others don’t have the same experience.
Addition:
In response to the owner’s reply below, I would also advise the staff to avoid being defensively dismissive or lecturing customers about their experiences. To genuinely improve customer service, it’s important to empathize with others and understand how actions, even if unintended, might be perceived as discriminatory. A response that begins with, “I’m sorry you felt this way,” does not constitute a genuine apology. It’s worth noting that another customer of color has had a similar experience, indicating this is not an isolated incident. I hope the staff will work on their inclusive communication skills. The food is good, and I still wish for...
Read moreMy wife and I had dinner here by ‘accident’. We had our sights set on another restaurant, however their menu didn’t offer what we were looking for. La Storia did have the desired dish, so in we went. From reception at the entrance, to goodbyes at the exit when we left, the service was impeccably friendly, correct and knowledgeable. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, and quite a number of interesting combinations. I settled on the tagliatelle with scampi and my wife on the risotto with mushrooms. Both dishes as named here don’t do justice to the actual execution of both dishes: they both presented a taste that was unprecedented. The ingredients created a whole new taste experience! This restaurant uses seasonal, fresh ingredients only, and serves its food in the best Sicilian tradition: like a religion. We’re converted! For dessert, we chose to split the ‘little bit of every dessert-dessert’ 😉 Tiramisu, chocolate mousse and crème with warm berries. Again, the names of the dishes don’t do justice to the TASTE! Every dessert was just so incredibly rich in taste, that at every single spoon, we were amazed again and again. Final touches were a Latte and a Limoncello, both also wonderful. So, this all sounds like the bill would be MASSIVE, but even inclusive of a bottle of Lambrusco, the final score was VERY fair. Price-quality wise, I don’t think there’s any comparison. Hands down, our number one on a long list of three continents spanning restaurants! Go eat there! We will again, many times!
A big thank you to the owners and staff for a THE BEST...
