First time at Annavilla’s normally i go to the other place few doors further but i’m always like to try new things. So i went to this one.
My menu was Idly, 2x massadosa, mango lassie, chai tea. Prices are good, taste is great. Look and feel of the place is a nice combination of Influence of indian and western decoration. like the atmosphere and staff here and the food is great. Real taste of India I even ordered a extra Massala dosa. So that says enough i think.
I was stunned how fast they were within 3 minutes my massala dosa came completely fresh. That was the second one. The first idly and dossa were also soo fast. It was not busy . I entered at 17:15: at 17:25 idly and dosa were on my table and 17:45 they were in my stomach 🤣 My god its was really good. I ordered the second Dosa en it was fast again. Amazing. I love it when they do that. The idly was very cute they decorated it in the middle. Was a nice surprise. I liked it.
Other positive is the staf. There was a sweet jong indian lady with glasses. She is really nice and helpful. Great and kind facial expression and very good service attitude. One point- don’t have your back all the time towards te customers you lose the overview when customers want something.
Are there any improvements ? Yes there are.. its details but in restaurants it’s all about the detail. Feedback is the breakfast of champions. 😀It’s always good to improve if you want to be the best restaurant of Utrecht with Indian food. This restaurant has the potential to be.
Plastic bottles on the table - if your restaurant has a certain look and feel i would never work with plastic bottles but water bottles. Plastic makes everything very cheap. Not good for environment and just cheap expression. Those bottles you can buy in supermarket. Always avoid that people can think that. You never want to compare your self with supermarket level. Also other drinks serve in glass bottles. Win is bottles so also do that also with Coca cola, fanta etc etc I would service that in glass. Can’s are very toxic in glass everything just taste better. Really change this pleace as i said before all these products you buy in supermarket. Avoid that at all cost
Mango lassy was far to sweet. I understand you need to use pulp because they do not have the indian mango’s but this was far to sweet for a mango lassie because of the extra syrup.
Never the less very positive. Hopefully they would change the small details.
Atmosphere i give ⭐️⭐️ because of the plastic bottles on the table. One more tip- place one botlle of flat water and one sparkling in GLASS !! 😉 instant better...
Read moreOver the weekend, my partner and I had been wanting to visit Annavilaas but finally had the pleasure of taking my parents—who are visiting from India here for lunch, and the experience was absolutely wonderful.
We ordered a variety of dishes: Adai Avial, Keerai Vadai (special items on the menu for the day) two South Indian Thalis (which looked incredible but also tasted delicious) for my parents, Podi Thatte Idly, Buttermilk, Parotta with Kurma, and Bisi Bele Bath. And honestly, every single item we tried was bursting with authentic flavours and perfectly prepared. It’s rare to find a place where everything on the table is consistently delicious, but Annavilaas truly delivered.
To our surprise and delight the food even surpassed some of the "authentic" spots we have dined back in India. The attention to detail, the freshness of the ingredients, and the depth of flavor in each dish were remarkable.
Not to forget to mention, the service was incredibly fast and efficient. The staff we interacted with was genuinely warm and welcoming. Speaking with the manager in Tamil made the experience even more special as it truly felt like a slice of home, right here in the Netherlands.
If you are looking to experience true South Indian vegetarian cuisine in the Netherlands, we can't recommend Annavilaas highly enough. We are already planning...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of enjoying authentic South Indian food, and it was truly a delightful experience. The flavors were so fresh, balanced, and comforting that every dish reminded me of traditional home cooking. From the perfectly steamed idlis to the crispy golden dosas served with a variety of chutneys and sambar, everything was prepared with such care and authenticity. The spices were blended beautifully, giving each dish its own unique taste without being overpowering.
What impressed me most was not just the taste but also the presentation and hospitality. The food was served hot, with generous portions, and every bite carried the warmth of South Indian culture. The variety was amazing too—whether it was the tangy rasam, rich curries, or the refreshing buttermilk, everything complemented each other wonderfully.
Overall, it was a wholesome and satisfying experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves flavorful, traditional food. This is the kind of place where you don’t just eat—you enjoy and...
