I first visited Utrecht from London in November 2023, and the city left a lasting impression. The serene beauty, spotless streets, and incredible food created memories I knew I’d cherish. One of my most treasured discoveries? O’Panuozzo in Mariastraat. I’ve sung its praises ever since! hands down, the best pizza in the whole wide world! I promised myself I’d be back. Fast forward to 2025, and for my birthday last weekend, my partner brought that promise to life with a surprise trip back to the city we fell in love with. Of course, my absolute favorite birthday dinner had to be at O’Panuozzo! We arrived in Utrecht on Saturday, and by the evening, we were walking through those familiar doors. Waiting to welcome us was the radiant and energetic Altea. Her joy at hearing we had returned all the way from London for my birthday was contagious! We kicked off the evening with a bottle of Zenato Pinot Grigio ; a perfect start as we settled in. With Altea’s delightful guidance, we made our selections: the Margherita Speciale, the Del Giorno, and the Calabrese. Each bite was a reminder of why I fell in love with this place. The Del Giorno may have even rivaled my original favorite, the Calabrese .. a tough competition! And the Margherita Speciale? A masterpiece of soft, airy crust, the richest sauce, and velvety cheese. Pure joy on a plate. But it wasn’t just the pizza that made the night exceptional. Flavio, Leti, Bea, and Gian Luca worked in seamless harmony, ensuring our glasses stayed full and that every moment felt special. The warmth of their hospitality radiated through the space, making us feel like we were part of the O’Panuozzo family. To top it all off, they surprised me with a tiramisu cake! candles glowing, voices raised in song, and heartfelt cheers. It was a moment I’ll never forget. To Altea and her incredible team, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made my birthday unforgettable, and O’Panuozzo will forever hold a special place in my memories. I can’t wait to return once again!

Read moreIn general from the beginning I liked the place and was always showing it to my international friends. But with time treatment of guests became horrible. I want to put 1 start for the treatment guests just like a bag of money and a chance to get more rich by the owner of restaurant. I don’t see it is normal not to take reservation on weekend just to place more people in such tiny place. Personnel is working hard and try everything what they can do, but with such a pressure pizza was burn out. ( I don’t blame in this case pizza maker) Waiting in the queue 40 min then on pizza 45 min on Saturday and eating in 15 min is a bit crazy. In this place you feel more and more like in kebab, when you feel pressure to eat as fast as you can without enjoying conversation ( because there are 20 people outside waiting for place, so personal need to put pressure, because they were told to do that). Placing random people in table for 4 people just to place and pack more and more people is super terrible. You can’t even put your hands there, don’t hear the conversation at all, moreover hear the conversation of random couple who is sitting near you. If you come with group and your friends are 5 min late is no chance you get the spot, because they can’t place you if you are not all together, as a result you remain to wait other 20 minutes because people after you go inside because your friends are 5 min late. That’s put a lot of pressure…
Overall if you are going for pizza for 15€ you expect a bit more then waiting 40 min outside, then 40 min on pizza, eating like mice in church in 15 min.
Now I want to say something to the owner, after last review on Google I saw the comments and I really think that your pizza was great and was good, but with such treatment of people like a bag of money and replying impolitely to your guests in few years this place will stop be popular.
To personal I give 5 starts to surviving...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at O Panuozzo in Utrecht, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere that set the tone for an exceptional evening.
Mauro and Alessandra truly stood out with their impeccable service. They were attentive, friendly, and made sure every detail of our dining experience was perfect. Their knowledge of the menu and their genuine passion for the food added a special touch to the meal.
The star of the evening, however, was the food. Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with authentic flavors and made with the freshest ingredients. It’s clear that the kitchen team puts a lot of love and care into their creations. The panuozzi, in particular, were a revelation – perfectly baked and filled with delicious ingredients that transported me straight to Italy.
A special mention must go to the owner, Mimmo, who has done a fantastic job creating such a wonderful dining establishment. His dedication to quality and his commitment to providing an outstanding dining experience are evident in every aspect of the restaurant. Mimmo’s personal touch and passion for his restaurant shine through, making every guest feel like part of the family.
