Espresso Owens Road — Restaurant in Albert-Eden

Our reason for visiting was half sentimentality, half curiosity. My mum stayed in an all girls hostel when she attended high school that was in Owen’s road so the area was special. I of course love trying new places and I was very impressed by Espresso Owen’s Road!

Staff were friendly from the get go, and didn’t make us feel rushed - we were encouraged to take a menu and order when we were ready. They were very careful to confirm what we were having and kind enough to point out the off menu specials. Service was very efficient.

EOR is on the small side size wise but not passion wise - every coffee is made with love. There is an entrance on the manukau road side, however main entrance is on Owen’s Rd. I didn’t notice any toilets but given that it’s on the lower floor of an office building there may be some elsewhere inside the vicinity.

Food was hot and tasty! I still daydream about the gorgeous fried egg on top of my corn fritter stack.

Prices were reasonable but also well displayed. It bothers me to no end when a cafe doesn’t display its cabinet prices but no worries here. Everything is labelled.

Nice little cafe on entering. Very good service from the start, ordered the steak sandwich and added sausage which was a cheese kansky. Ordered a Jasmine tea. Tea was exquisite. Can't in a nice little green ceramic pot. Food didn't take long, beautiful presentation on looks and the smell was amazing. (First thoughts, get in my tummy). Perfect balance of tangy, sweet, and mix of flavours. Had like this potato gratin on the toasted bread, beautiful salad with the nicest blended salad. Steak was tenderised but no complaints as cooked nicely. Cold day, so warm inside. Overall, best steak Sammie ever. That's saying a lot from this boy. I had a berry shake to go, omg vibes started up again. Cool staff..I let them no my happy vibes.

I was deeply stressed and fatigued before I had come across this coffee shop, I went in and started to recognize it through vague and mundane descriptions I had heard in the past. What really struck me was their special menu item, yes this was the place with the 41 bean special. Joy sprang forth and I could feel my mind reaching out from the darkness it was once in, ordering it energized me and I no longer felt fatigued....
