If disappointment had a kitchen, it would be Kodur’s. We walked in excited for a taste of Kerala and walked out feeling like we’d been scammed by a knock-off roadside tea stall.
We started with the “famous” Chatti Chorru. Famous for what? Probably for testing how much plain rice a human can shovel in before losing the will to live. The curries came in thimble-sized portions — just enough to annoy us — and the “chicken fry” tasted like it had been stuck in the deep fryer since the Jurassic era. Dry, stiff, and begging for carbon dating rather than seasoning.
Next up: Kizhi Porotta with Chicken Curry. The portion size was laughable, the chicken was more myth than meat, and the porotta had the chew of a yoga mat crossed with a spare tyre. The curry itself? Suspiciously like a fish mappas in disguise, a chicken impostor wearing a very bad wig.
And then came the real dagger: the Chaya. The only thing generous here was the portion size of the tea — abnormally huge, which in hindsight should have been our first warning. Oh, the betrayal! Worse than Kattappa killing Bahubali. The so-called ginger tea was nothing more than hot water being bullied by a teabag, with a sad splash of milk thrown in as an insult. The ginger had probably skated off on the slippery floor, and the sugar? Likely spilled across the sticky tables instead of in the cup. The masala tea was the same tragedy repeated — all promise, no soul. Honestly, I brewed better tea at age ten with a rusty kettle, tap water, and blind confidence.
Final verdict: Kodur’s isn’t a restaurant. It’s a graveyard where good ingredients go to die, taste goes into hiding, and expectations get cremated with no ceremony. Save...
Read moreFood was ok bro – not the worst, but I feel some basics are missing. I’m only sharing what I tried and my experience: 1.Kottu Parota – You don’t need to add that many frozen mixed veggies (carrot, peas, corn). Every bite was full of veggies, so the parota, chicken, and egg taste got lost. Honestly, I don’t even remember seeing the egg in it. 2.Parota + Chicken Curry – Serving them separately doesn’t work. You brought the parota first, then curry 10 mins later. By then, the parota was cold and elastic. Please serve both together so the taste stays intact. 3.Spicy Chicken Kondattam – Bro, where’s the spicy? You should mention you’re adding honey, because what came out was sweet chicken, not spicy. The photo shows roasted spicy chicken with curry leaves and chilli flakes, but the dish felt more like Korean honey chicken with sesame seeds. Quantity was decent for the price, but the taste didn’t match the name. 4.Pazhampori (banana fritter) – Way too oily. The oil was soaked inside, which makes it heavy. Please try to drain the oil better before serving. 5.Service & Ambience – Place is nice, but the upstairs/downstairs setup is tough for serving. The floor was also slippery, which is risky. Even though the restaurant was empty, water wasn’t served – small things like this matter. I felt bad seeing staff running up and down multiple times just to...
Read moreMe and my family was celebrating a very special day. We drove all the way from south to kingsland just to have a good time. We called before heading and they confirmed to come in. We walked in and was waiting at the front desk for someone to assist us. All we heard was some men laughing loud in the kitchen not bothered what's happening outside .We did finally get a hold of someone after almost 5 mins and we walked up their maze to go up the stairs. Hardly 3 tables were occupied ,most of them finished their meals. We still found a table which was not cleaned and cleared. There was only one staff upstairs. We really wished if at the least the table could have been cleaned. Our patience was lost and we walked down to leave. Finally saw another guy come out of the kitchen and as we shared our concern he informed that they were short staffed. I do understand if i could see if there were so many tables occupied and i could have seen at least one person running around managing . If this was the case he could have told us when we called 40 mins before to confirm if we can come in. At Least the staff acknowledging the situation and informing this personally by coming to us, i would have understood the situation. People spend their time and money and if this is what we get in return, SORRY not sure if you are running the...
