15 June 2020 - Another happy 😊 outing at this Japanese eatery. I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious and tasty 😋 teppanyaki food with a very entertaining "fire" 🔥 show.
Would I go back? Yes 😊 Very friendly and helpful staff especially the manager called Nelson.

20 September 2019 - This is a well established Japanese restaurant with teppanyaki setup. It is located on Riccarton Road, across the Caltex station.
Anyway, the interior layout is well set up; a long "U" shape teppanyaki table. There are plenty of dining 4-seater dining tables to accommodate singles to groups. The place is dimly lit and it feels kinda cosy. There is a bar area for the patrons to have drinks while waiting for tables.
The menu is very straightforward and is not overwhelming (which is a good thing) with choices but rather nicely balanced. The drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are on a separate menu. Again, not overwhelming.
I've ordered sashimi, teppanyaki lamb 🐑, venison, chicken 🐓 and assorted tempura. I also ordered "shashimi" - spicy tempura sashimi roll. I strongly recommend this dish 😋.
Overall, it was a good experience from this restaurant.
This is a child-friendly restaurant.
This is a licensed (🍻🍸🍷🍾🍹🍺) eatery and not a BYO. There is no outdoor dining area.
There is onsite parking 🅿.
They accept cash and EFTPOS including credit card payments (Paywave payments are available, for those who want to know).
Would I go back? Yes 😀. Well worth it and you will not be disappointed. Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. It was yummy 😋. Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Relax and cosy. Price: ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Reasonable pricing compared to other Japanese restaurants in Christchurch. Customer service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Friendly staff.
I strongly recommend that you make a reservation for the Teppanyaki seating as to avoid any disappointment.

Read moreI would recommend this negative stars. I complained via email, only to be ignored 5 days and counting now. I've rang and emailed both restaurants
I just went for lunch at the Ferrymead Tonys, and honestly I was disgusted at the state of the restaurant, let alone the food.
Your restaurant decor is filthy, unhygienic and unkept. The floor was sticky, with food on the floor. The couches were ripped, the wallpaper was coming off the wall, there were 4 people in the restaurant and there were plates left on tables and the bathroom was in a horrific state of affairs. The service was below poor.
Tonys has always been expensive, but as someone who appreciates fine dining I don't care about the cost. Tonys has been a favourite restaurant of mine, but where did your standards go? Have you recently changed ownership? The Tonys I knew used to be one of the best restaurants in town.
However, paying for lukewarm food that has no flavour is just not acceptable. There is an abundance of beautiful japanese restaurants to choose from, and you quite frankly wouldn't hit the top 10. The Salmon was horrific, I assume it was frozen. My mother didn't finish her meal, and neither did I.
This used to be a popular restaurant and was difficult to get a booking but now, it's empty. I can see why, I wouldn't want to be sitting in that...
Read moreHad lunch today with my friend for her birthday and we had the set menu for $32.00 plus a drink. We could choose between three entrees and three main and it came with rice and vegetables. We both chose Tatsutage (fried chicken) with a garnish of lettuce and kewpie Mayo (or it tasted like it) and you had a selection of three sauces already on the table so have with your lunch. Soya sauce and two others which were very tasty but not sure what they were! Then you chose your main out of seafood, chicken or beef. I chose chicken and it was delicious and my friend had the beef. Both cooked really well as in, tender and tasty! With that came the vegetables and no rice, which I was disappointed with. We were going to ask for it but my friend was full by that stage so we didn’t. I should have though. The vegetables were a mix of cabbage, carrot and zucchini- teppenyaki style - so they were sweet and crisp to the bite. Very nice. All in all, I was pleased with lunch and it was definitely worth the money we paid apart from the missing rice. But that was my decision in the end not to ask for it. Definitely go back again. Thanks...
