The Craic Irish Bar — Restaurant in Christchurch

The most abhorrent behaviour from security staff. My husband and I were asked to leave, (about an hour ago) though I'm not sure why. We were minding our own business and in fact, saw a guy break a glass and yell, out on the patio about 30 minutes prior (without being thrown out). Regardless, I asked the security guard if we could finish our drinks before we left. We hadn't been given any warning up until this point, just a "it's time to leave" . He agreed, and asked us to sit by the door while we finished; during this time, I asked for his name and he refused, to which I replied, "ok than, I'll just get your badge number". He gave me his badge number quickly and then covered it with his hand. At this point, he grabbed my husband by the arm and said it was time to leave. (Getting physical at this point was absolutely disgusting since my husband wasn't even involved in the conversation and was sitting quietly). I asked again for his badge number and he said " i already gave it to you" and continued to cover it. At this point, I was so completely disgusted that we were being thrown out for no reason, without warning, with physical aggression, and then refused ID from our aggressors, I decided this isn't a place I would want to be at or EVER go to again. I'm a Canadian and I have also worked in the hospo industry for over 10 years and back home, this would never be tolerated. It's so friggin gross and unclassy how we were treated. They need to hire new security or at least train the children at the door to recognize people that are intoxicated. Beyond a dive bar - This is a ‘deadbeat bar’ avoid it! needs to be shut down or have their hours reduced. Management allows patrons to become intoxicated to the point of vomit, leaving it outside their bar for everyone else to deal with.

I would seriously reconsider eating here due to food safety concerns related to biohazards that are continuously left unattended by their ‘cleaner’ who spends most of his time at the bar before retiring to his van. The cleaner was violent after approaching him about the vomit, no respect for bylaws or licensing requirements.

I would also reconsider attending any of their events, or spending time and money here in general. with poor security and a disregard for laws pertaining to their license, I can only imagine whatever else happens during or after your visit...

Went to the toilet, white blonde female behind the bar tried telling me I spent 10-15 mins in the toilet as to why they took me and my partners 2 drinks away, spent 4 mins in the toilet as per timer. Tried charging me for another two drinks when I came to find mine gone, said they had performed two floor sweeps in the time I made a 4 minute phone call and defecation session. Not the first time I’ve found this decrepit place scrounging for any dollar they can. Might as well drink at the Sandridge, friendlier staff, better quality toilets, and they won’t steal your more than well paid for drinks! White blonde females practices should be reviewed.
