Generally I mark on taste, service and cost... So overall a 4.5 the only issue was the meat was not hot but everything else was great.
Starter Carrot and rhubarb entree was great was not sure the combo would work but the combination as perfect. Not sure the butter sauce added much but the mash just tied it all together.
Staff was friendly and attentive. Food came out fairly regularly and I was not left wondering if or when it would arrive
Main Bavette steak was ok, radishes were good but the steak was like warm at best but flavours were good. The mushroom was tasty but I am not a fan so left it. Mushroom lovers would have loved it.
Potatoe side was pretty good and some how the flavouring had been glazed on to them. Lots of crispy yummy Potatoe bits. Very nice well seasoned. Very tasty. Would be just right for sharing with two.
Dessert The chocolate ganache tasted great and the sweetness was offset well by the mandarin sorbet with some biscuit crumb to add texture. Overall a pleasent dessert. Also good size was just right not too small you were left wanting more not so larger or overpowering sweet you wanted less.
The location was next to the Avon was very plesent with a lot of foot traffic passing by. Bit of road noise from the busy road but the noise was not unpleasant and both added some distraction and interest to the experience.
Cost was pretty good and they did a 3 course special at 45 was pretty good. Overall was a pretty good experience.
Overall Christchurch seems to have a pretty good food scene and Miro leads my experience so far. If you did not know it was there you would miss it. Worth finding. Thanks Manas. Look it up go visit it cannot be beat on a hot summers...

After hearing some negative feedback from others the day before I decided to put those aside and make my own opinion on it. However I found myself with the same opinions as them - the service was cold and distant. The staff didn’t seem enthusiastic or willing to make our/my birthday experience one to remember. Even with a booking, being seated felt a hassle to the point we had to ask for menus/extra utensils etc... after waiting over 10 minutes. They denied us alcoholic drinks as one party was underaged even though we were all old enough to be his legal guardian and the way they handled the situation left a sour taste in all our mouths. A champagne drink with my breakfast (as a special treat) was the one thing I was really looking forward to but they failed to deliver. I honestly believe that was due to our age that we didn’t get treated as a paying customer and taken seriously. Had we’d been treated differently I think you would’ve found we’d of bought more food/drink. Read moreI am a firm believer of the way that distinguishes a good restaurant from an exceptional restaurant is that on multiple visits your expectations are met on every visit. This visit was our first for lunch and our expectations were totally excceed, the staff were welcoming and attentive, our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. We started with a couple of cocktails which were sophisticated and balanced a great start to our meal, we shared the scallops for entree and my God what a harmoniously balanced dish full of different textures and flavours with succulent scallops, we didn't want it to end. For our main we had the Croque Madame and Miro Burger these too excceed our expectations as the brioche was fluffy and light with the perfect balance of cheese and prosciutto the salad added some acidity the chips were perfectly cooked, the burger was flavourful and balanced. This restaurant is our new favourite, we would go out of our way to visit again, can't wait to try something else...
