Shanghai Bistro and Bar — Restaurant in Christchurch

28 Jan 2023 - I went there to try their dim sum and the food didn't disappoint. It was delicious 😋 and tasty. I ordered 8 dim sum dishes and struggled to finish it. Maybe next time I'll order 6 dishes. Anyway, it is one of the restaurants in Christchurch that serve good dim sum dishes. They also serve other restaurant dishes.

If you're going there as a group of 3 or more, I recommend that you ring and reserve a table. Even 2 people might not able to get a table. It is that busy around lunch time.

This is a child-friendly restaurant.

This is a licensed (🍻🍸🍷🍾🍹🍺) eatery. There is no outdoor dining area.

There is onsite parking 🅿 at the back of the building.

They accept cash and Eftpos. There is a 2% surcharge on credit card payment. Paywave is available for those who want to know.

Did not feel welcomed, inconsiderate staff and overall the place and the staff brought our group’s whole mood down when we’re suppose to be celebrating a very special birthday for a 4 year old girl.

Seen by the time I have written, went home and put this up tonight, Shanghai bistro is not even closed yet as stated in their 10pm closing time.

They began cleaning and vacuuming at 9:00pm as soon as all of our food arrived. We have asked them to stop vacuuming since we were still eating. We would have thought they got a hint of how impolite it was. They then proceeded to mop using bleach right beside our table as we were eating. Not only was it a tripping hazard for the customers and children that were there but it was a chemical hazard aswell as most of the people in our group began feeling light headed from the chemicals we were exposed to.

Food was really good, we had booked a larger table it was a work team evening at 6. Traffic delayed a few people. We where told several times that our table was already rebooked at 8 and could we order at 6.30 we explained not everyone was here we where then told by advice on manager to call them to order the food.....even though table ordered majority of food together (apart from the 2 late arrivals) the food was staggered so guests where left feeling we cant eat this because more than half table hadnt received any food. Also didnt help that the wait staff who wanted us gone by 8 by management kept trying to clear plates every 5 minutes. Would have been nice if we where...
