I really enjoyed spending time with my companion there, and the young man who served us was excellent. The food was also great.
However, the maître d' could use some improvement in his manner. When we arrived, he quietly told us we were 20 minutes early, then seated us anyway. Twenty minutes later, no one had offered us drinks, so I got up and asked for a menu after seeing people who arrived after we had been there for 20 minutes being served straight away. A very kind young waiter promptly gave me them which I apprdciated. Once our alloted time was reached we were finally served.
During the meal, our main waiter was exemplary—professional, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. We truly appreciated his service. The food was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. The icecream was exemplary as well as the halloumy starter.
Unfortunately, the restaurant manager’s behaviour was disappointing. He poured water for everyone at surrounding tables, including my companion, but skipped mine. It felt pointed and awkward.
When I went to pay, I waited in line behind an older man. After he finished, the manager told me to step aside so another older man behind me could pay first. I did so politely, but it felt disrespectful and dismissive—especially given that I had already spent $80 on a GrabOne voucher. I felt as though I was being treated as a second-class customer simply because I was using a voucher rather than paying directly.
An older man behind the second customer noticed what happened and kindly encouraged me to move forward to pay next. I did so, but the manager offered no apology—just gave me the total. I paid and left feeling embarrased and shamed.
I’ve never been treated this way in any restaurant before. While I would gladly return for the excellent food and the wonderful young staff, I can’t help but feel that if I had paid in cash, I might have been treated differently.I had called the same manager beforehand to confirm that my GrabOne voucher would still be honoured, and he assured me it would. In hindsight, though, I’m not sure I would have gone ahead with the visit had I known how I would be treated by him. That said, I truly did appreciate the quality of the food and the professionalism of the...
Read moreOur large group of 29 had the privilege of dining here for lunch. It was a total assessment for the students from the waiters, front of house and apprentice chefs. It was a real pressure test for the students with assessors watching all of them. Most were nervous and there were the odd mistakes as to be expected. However the food was excellent, was of great quality and quantity. We were then taken for a tour of the facilities which is extensive. A great experience and meal. We will be back either individually or as a group. Just be aware this is a training restaurant so understand if there is the odd slipup but you...
